The Jamshedpur FC tactician also heaped praise upon Ritwik Das.

Jamshedpur FC earned the second win of the ISL 2022-23 season with style against East Bengal. A first half strike from Cleiton Silva was cancelled by goals from Harry Sawyer and Ritwik Das to secure Jamshedpur’s victory. The wait was long as Jamshedpur FC were winless since the last 10 games.  Although the victory won’t make any difference for Aidy Boothroyd’s side, the loss must have come hard for the East Bengal supporters.

The Jamshedpur FC head coach addressed the media after the match. Here are the excerpts from the press conference.

On the win

Aidy Boothroyd had the sigh of relief after Ritwik salvaged the winner. He went on to share his thoughts on the game with a beaming face.

“When you win, it’s great and when you don’t, it’s difficult. We have been in a difficult situation for a few weeks now. And I think we were worthy of the win. We were excellent, particularly in the second half. The first half was a bit shaky and then we went to try and win the game. And we managed to do that. So, I am very happy.”

On impactful substitutions

The substitutions made an instant impact for Jamshepdpur FC. Last game’s hero Ritwik Das was brought in the second half and so was Harry Sawyer.

Talking about the impactful subs, Aidy asserted, “We had to do something different. We didn’t have enough confidence. That’s the reason we have three or five substitutions so that they can come and make the difference – sometimes for the good and sometimes it’s on the opposite side. Today all three substitutes were excellent.”

On Ritwik’s performance

“I can’t believe he scored a header at the far post. Ritwik was very good tonight. It was a brilliant ball in and a brave finish. He scored twice in the last game and one today. So he is our joint top-scorer. And I am very pleased with his contributions,” remarked the tactician about Ritwik’s heroics.

Aidy also revealed why he decided to start with three foreigners playing Crivellaro behind Daniel Chima. He stated, “What we tried to do was to get Crivellaro to get more involved in the game. He is our most creative player and we are trying to get him on the ball more.”

What’s ahead for the team

“I think we have to try and win every single game. Every club goes through re-building and we lost our key players. We want to be challenging at the top, this season we are not. But we will try to win as many games as possible,” the manager signed off on these words.
