Top 10 clubs with most wins in 2022

These teams have had an impressive year and have won the most number of matches across the calendar year

2022 was year of utter footballing drama. From Messi completing football by winning the World Cup, to Real Madrid’s historic run in the Champions League. This year made fans go through a roller coaster of emotions.

While some big teams such as Manchester United, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid struggled with their performances, others really had a strong impact and a strong spell of assertiveness throughout the year. So today, we take a look at the top 10 teams, who were able to secure the most wins this year in all competitions.

10. Arsenal – 30 (45 games)

Arsenal have had a year to remember. From picking themselves up from the bottom of the table and finishing 5th , to having a majestic start to the 2022-23 season and topping the Premier League, Arsenal fans have been through it all.

Arsenal’s performances aren’t a fluke. Mikel Arteta’ men have truly been one of the most impressive teams in 2022. 

The second of half the year belonged to Arsenal, as the North London based club not only mounted up the charts of the table, but also announced themselves as the favourites to win the Premier League trophy.

9. Napoli - 30 (43 games)

Napoli are another club, who have had a resurrection in 2022. The sleeping giants from the south of Italy are not only top of Serie A at the moment, but are undoubtedly one of the best clubs in Europe this season.

Luciano Spalletti has worked wonders for the team since joining them in May 2021. His style of an attacking minded total football has turned Napoli into one of Serie A’s most formidable units. 

Napoli finished 2022, with a total of 30 wins.

8. FC Barcelona – 31 (50 games)

Barca didn’t have the best of the years, after they failed to make it to the Champions League round of 16 in both the 2021-22 as well as 2022-23 season. They also fell short of Real Madrid in LaLiga, and had a trophyless season.

Though Xavi’s men weren’t as impressive as they were expected to be, they still managed to perform well against small teams in the league and had their few impressive spells in which they managed to get all three points.

They finished 8th in the rankings with 31 wins.

7. Chelsea FC – 32 (55 games)

Chelsea have had a year full of ups and downs. The Blues had a good start to the year, and finished 3rd in the Premier League in the 2021-22 season, but their fortunes took a steep turn as they started the 2022-23 season. 

A spree of unsatisfying performances left the board with no other option but to sack Thomas Tuchel in September 2022. As his replacement, the club signed Graham Potter, who hasn’t been fully convincing with his results, and has had a really shaky start.

Nevertheless, Chelsea got a total of 32 wins from the 55 games, courtsey of their individual talents and occasional display of brilliance.

6. Marseille – 32 (53 games)

Perhaps a surprising name on the list, Marseille enjoyed an excellent 2022 . The French club was the second-best club in Ligue 1 behind the likes of PSG across the year.  The Calendar year also marked their return in the Champions League and was a great success for the club.

Imbued with the essence and tactical prowess of manager Jorge Sampaoli, this is a team which likes to attack, offering a lot of interchanging positions and movement up front, and can be lethal when on the attack.

Marseille finished the year with a total of 32 wins, and will expect to carry blistering form as they enter into another calendar year.

5. RB Leipzig – 32 (51 games)

Leipzig had an incredible win record in 2022. Their compactness in defense and a technical midfield helped the club exhibit their true potential and maintain a good record throughout the year. 

Leipzig had an incredible turnaround in 2022. With the introduction of Domenico Tadesco in December 2021 as the new head coach, Leipzig not only revived their 2021-22 season, but have been equally impressive this season as well, and are currently in the top 4 of Bundesliga and have qualified for the Champions League round of 16.

Leipzig registered a total of 32 wins in 51 games, and are the only German club to feature in the top 10, beating the likes of Bayern and Dortmund. 

4. PSG – 33 (46 games)

PSG had a win percentage of 71% in 2022. The Parisians were impressive under both their managers Pochettino and Galtier, and had a pretty handsome record in the Ligue, though they were a bit shaky in the Champions League.

Their indomitable trio of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi did wonders for the team and usually outscored their opponents in their quest to claim all three points.

Not only this, Paris also lined up an impressive and dynamic midfield, further improving the team’s performances.

3. Manchester City – 37 (54 games)

Impressive as always, Manchester City successfully make it to the top 3, after another year of all round mastery. The Premier League champions had a total of 37 wins and were undoubtedly the best English club in 2022.

From January to December, The Blues have been astonishingly consistent with their performances. 

Being equally poised in all positions of the field, it is no doubt that Pep Guardiola got his team to another Premier League title, when it seemed almost unattainable, given the form Liverpool were in.

2. Real Madrid – 37 (53 games)

2022 belonged to Real Madrid. The year in which the Los Blancos won the LaLiga, also marked the club’s 14th Champions League triumph. Carlos Ancelloti’s men not only conquered Europe, but they did it in the best way possible, defeating the likes of Liverpool, PSG, Man City and Chelsea in their incredible run.

Real also posed their dominance domestically, by winning the league fairly convincingly, with 13 points between them and Barcelona.

This season as well, Real are performing exceptionally well and are En route to having another incredible season.

1. Liverpool – 43 (60 games)

Beyond a doubt, Liverpool top the list for the most wins in 2022. Liverpool were pretty much undefeatable in the starting half of 2022, and almost won all the games in which they played.

Although they were defeated by Real Madrid in the Champions League final, it doesn't disregard the fact that they had been unimaginably impressive all season.

The start of the 2022-23 season was pretty shaky for Liverpool, as the Reds failed to get desired results, but like any top team, Liverpool soon found their form back and have gone back to winning ways.

With 43 wins in 60 games, Liverpool are very clearly the team with the most number of wins in 2022.
