Penalties have become so important now, that there are special training and players for taking them. Riyad Mahrez- 7
The Manchester City winger is 10th on the list. The former Leicester city player has been phenomenal for Pep’s side. He is a dribbler and can create chances as well as score goals for his side. Sofiane Boufal- 7
The Moroccan international has scored every penalty that he has got in 2022 across all competition. Boufal plays for the French club Angers. He had an amazing year, reaching the semi-final of the World Cup in Qatar with his national team and thus becoming the first African team to do so.
Florian Tardieu- 7
The French midfielder is next on the list with a 100% penalty conversion rate last year. He scored all of his seven penalties. The Midfielder plays in the Ligue 1 in France for Troyes.
Ivan Toney- 7
The 26-year-old Brentford player is also on the list with his fulfilling penalty skills. He has scored seven out of seven penalties attempted. Brentford are currently sitting 9th on the Premier League table, interestingly above Chelsea, who are currently at the 10th spot.
Ben Yedder- 8
Ben Yedder is next on the list with eight penalty chances converted from nine penalties taken. The French international missed a spot in the French World Cup squad but surely made his mark with his shooting talents. Ben Yedder plays for the Ligue 1 side Monaco who are currently 5th in the league.
Kylian Mbappe- 8
The football prodigy and successor to the legacy of Ronaldo and Messi is beginning to mark his spot in every record possible in football. Mbappe has scored eight penalties in the last year out of nine taken by him. He is an excellent scorer which is reflected by his penalty score. For evidence, one should watch the three penalties he took against Emi Martinez, a Penalty shootout master, in the World Cup final.
Vincenzo Grifo- 9
The Italian international was above Mbappe in terms of Penalty last year. Grifo was not part of the EURO 2020 winning Italian squad but is an important player for his Bundesliga club SC Freiburg who are currently at the second spot in the league after the table toppers FC Bayern Munich.
Erling Haaland- 9
He is considered the biggest competition for Mbappe and challenger to the throne Messi and Ronaldo. Many are considering the rivalry of Haaland and Mbappe to be like that of Messi and Ronaldo and it could be true if the stats were to believe. Haaland is ahead of Mbappe in this record. The Manchester City player has made the Premier League look like a farmer’s league. he has scored nine out of nine penalties he took in the previous year. The competition between both the youngsters is looking very thrilling in the future.
Harry Kane- 10
The English captain is next on the list. He had a good World Cup, reaching the semi-finals. He has been Phenomenal for both his country and Club Tottenham. Kane is an excellent penalty taker with many experts praising his skills. He has scored ten out of a total of 13 penalties taken. Out of the missed is the one which became the reason for England’s exit from the World Cup. But this “Messi moment” of Kane doesn’t overcome his scoring talent.
Neymar- 11
Neymar is a penalty expert and considered one of the best penalty takers in the World. The Brazilian has scored 11 out of 12 attempted penalties in 2022. Neymar is having a great season, although Brazil was knocked out of the World Cup but Neymar seems to be confident enough to achieve some titles for his Club Paris St Germain.
