Top 10 players that should look for a switch away in January 2023 to revive their career
The January transfer window is upon us, and some players are in dire need to change their clubs.
The January transfer window, is a time when the clubs look to make some changes in the squad as they have complete knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses. This is also a period, when players try to look for transfer and loan moves. If they aren’t satisfied with their current club and think that things are not looking good for them.
Sometimes, these disparities and unwillingness between a player and his club, become widely evident. Today, we’ve gathered a list of the top 10 players, who should be looking for such relocation during this January transfer window.
10. Ferran Torres – FC Barcelona
The 22-year-old was a much precedented signing for the Blaugrana, and a lot was expected from him when was brought into the club for £48 million. But a year down the line, things are looking quite discrete for the Spaniard.
Ferran has fallen down the pecking order at the club, behind the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, who joined last summer. Also, his performances haven’t been as per his expectations. In the 38 games that he has played for the club, Ferran has scored only ten goals.
With Barca’s increasing financial problems, transfers have to be made in order to raise funds for further signings and also there is interest of various Premier League clubs on Ferran. All of this suggests that a transfer is quite possible.
9. Hakim Ziyech – Chelsea FC
Hakim Ziyech is another player who is highly likely to leave his club. The Moroccon International, has failed to impress the new Chlesea boss Graham Potter, and has become a bench warmer at the club. Making only three appearances since Graham’s arrival.
Having had an impressive World Cup campaign with Morocco, and making it to the Semi Finals of the World Cup. Ziyech would be a player that teams from around Europe would love to have in their wings. With his incredible technical abilities and expertise in the wings, it won’t be long before we see the 29-year-old in another club.
The likes of AC Milan and Ajax have already shown their interest in the player, and no possibility can be ruled out at the moment.
8. Christian Pulisic – Chelsea FC
Pulisic is suffering with a fate, very similar to that of his teammate Ziyech. The American star has also failed to shine in the eyes of his new Gaffer, and has stopped low in the hierarchy. He has scored only once, in the 13 appearances he has for the club this season.
Pulisic is another player that has had a great World Cup campaign, as he was directly involved in every Goal that the USMNT scored and has proven his worth to every club around Europe.
With Chelsea changing their entire attacking system and bringing in desired players from top clubs, it is highly likely that Chelsea will let Pulisic leave the club.
7. Donny Van De Beek – Man United
Van De Beek’s tenure at Man United has been quite a failure. From being one of the biggest Young talents in football, Van De Beek has fallen into the list of regular benchwarmers for his club.
According to GiveMeSport, an insider news suggests that Van De Beek has to leave and find a new club, after the Dutchman failed to make a positive impact at Old Trafford. According to various other reports, a loan move is on the cards, and Donny is highly likely to return to his homeland, after visible interest has been shown by Ajax and PSV.
Van De Beek transfer is imminent and necessary, if the player wants to revive his career.
6. Eden Hazard – Real Madrid
Things haven’t worked out between Eden Hazard and Real Madrid since the star joined the club for 115 million euros. The Belgian has failed to don the colours of the Los Blancos due to his constant injury problems and lack of commitment.
At this point, it is absolutely necessary for Eden to leave the club. As his relations have deteriorated with the manager, and also there is not much faith being put on him by the staff members.
Eden might have to join a lower level club, but the move is important for the player to gain his confidence back and get back into playing at his level best.
5. Joao Felix – Atletico Madrid
Joao’s relations with the Atletico manager Diego Simeone has completely fallen apart, and there is much disparity between the two. Before the World Cup, the Portuguese forward was assigned to the bench most of the time, although he was 100% fit.
Joao has a lot of potential and has been subjected to rumours associated with big clubs. Clubs like PSG, Man Utd, Barcelona are all eying on the 23-year-old.
With the situation critical at Atletico, and interest from other big clubs, it is highly unlikely that Joao will continue with Atletico beyond January.
4. Memphis Depay – FC Barcelona
At this point, it seems as if Memphis has fallen out of favour at Barcelona. Barca’s vivid attacking options, has forced Memphis to be a regular benchwarmer at the club. Xavi has put his faith on players like Lewandowski and Ansu Fati, and the Dutch attacker might just be looking for a move in January, in order to get some more playtime.
After an impressive World Cup, Memphis can be sure of some offers from Big clubs, who might be very much interested in a technical and experienced player in the pivotal role. Much interest in the Dutchman has been shown by the likes of Newcastle, Arsenal and Man United.
3. Jack Grealish – Manchester City
When Jack Grealish joined Man City from Aston Villa for a record breaking transfer fees of 117 million Euros, few expected the situation to look so sketchy and uncertain in just a year and a half.
Jack has failed to make his mark at the club, and has stalled in proving himself in the eyes of Pep. His incredible abilities have failed to shine at the Etihad so far, and he might be coming to an end of his Man City career.
With rumours erupting in the past few days, that suggest the Grealish might be offered to Milan in a swap deal for Rafael Leao. Grealish is highly likely to leave the club and can see himself in different colours very soon.
2. Emile Smith Rowe – Arsenal
Smith Rowe started the season exceptionally well and was one of the star players of Arsenal along with Bukayo Saka. But unfortunately, a groin injury side-lined the player for 4 months.
Now in the final stages of his recovery, Smith Rowe situation is complex. Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have filled in the positions in which he used to play, and his requirement is uncertain.
Amidst all this, the 22-year-old might have to look for a loan move, that would help him return to his groove and come back stronger.
1. Jadon Sancho – Manchester United
Things are looking increasingly difficult for Sancho since the arrival of Tan Hag. The Englishman has had zero competitive minutes since October. He has been training on his own, to get back to peak fitness.
Sancho has failed to impress ever since his move to Man United, and would want to make a move this January in order to get some playtime and regain his confidence.
Sancho’s abilities are unquestionable, and surely a lot of teams would be interested in acquiring the services of the 22-year-old if he’s put in the market.
