The Jamshedpur FC head coach also heaped praise upon forward Daniel Chima Chukwu.

The Men of steel have melted and torn apart the hearts of the passionate Hyderabad FC fans, who got to see their team suffer a defeat, after fighting so hard to get something out of the game. A brilliant performance by Aidy Boothroyd’s men away at the fortress of the Nizams meant that Jamshedpur FC’s brilliant run of form continued, as the Reds have now gathered seven points from their last three encounters, and are easily one of the most in-form teams in the league at the moment.

Aidy’s men showed great spirit against Hyderabad. They fought hard until the final whistle for the three points, and in the end got a well deserved victory. This win has taken the Men of steel to ninth in the table, and has further increased their confidence for the upcoming Super Cup.

Following the triumph against rivals Hyderabad, Jamshedpur FC head coach Aidy Boothroyd spoke to the media. This is how the conversation went.

Thoughts on his team's performance

Jamshedpur FC showed great intent against second-placed Hyderabad, and actually shocked the lot with their incredible defence as well as bristling attack. When asked about his views on this famous victory, Aidy said:

“I thought it was a very difficult game. Hyderabad made lots of changes. It's important for us to appear the integrity of the league by our performance which I think we did. We did everything we could to win and I think we had a couple of very good chances to win it out right in the second half.”

”When you've got a team like Hyderabad (as opponents), you always know you're in for a difficult game. Our goalkeeper saved the penalty. For the neutral it was great but for the coach it was horrible (the pressure), but nice now,” he added.

What has led to this transformation of the team in the final stages of the league

Jamshedpur’s recent form has been amazing and they have looked like an entirely different team in the past few weeks. When asked about what led to this incredible turnaround, Aidy mentioned:

“As far as we are concerned as a club, first year Shield victory meant that there was an expectation for the team, but the team had lost its best player, who was the best player in the league, in Greg Stewart. 10 goals 10 assists. Also, one of if not the best defensive midfield players, which is Pronay (Halder). “

He added, "Very well organised, some very tough players and tough team, so when we lost them. It's then important to look at what we need and what we need to get rid of and it's important to know the reason the biggest upturn is because we have brought a couple of players in. (Rafael) Crivellaro, Pronay have made a huge difference and I have been pleased with the lads that were here before. We have now got a winning unit or a group that is expecting to win.”

He further said, “It has been a long season really for a lot of different ways but we are finishing on the upturn, like you said seven points is good, but this year is not our year, maybe next year. But we have got a cup to go for and it is really important for us that we play ourselves and finish the season in a strong manner and then get more players back fit. I am pleased with how things are going and delighted to come to such a good club.”

On Chukwu's great form

Aidy Boothroyd didn’t hold back from appreciating the incredible Daniel Chima Chukwu, who has been in fiery form for the Reds.

"Well Daniel is probably one of the most unsung heroes in the league. He gets battered every game but he gets up and gets on with it. He gives as good as it gets as well and he's somebody that holds the ball up for us and sometimes when you are doing that all unselfish stuff, you end up not getting as many goals that you probably could if you were just up there on your own and doing your own thing. So, he is a team player, and I am very happy with him.

Views on their upcoming game against Odisha

Jamshedpur FC’s first game this season was an agonising defeat to the hands of Odisha, who they face again on Wednesday in the final game of the season. With his eyes set on a win and revenge against the Juggernauts, Aidy made his intentions very clear after the Hyderabad FC game.

“Well, we will be going all out to win it because in the first game of the season at Jamshedpur, it was a washout. We had the game delayed for an hour. Then we started off great, got 2-0 up, and ended up losing 3-2. In those situations, you always look and think what if, and if that game would have been better, we might have gone on and had a better season then we had.

"But we want to go there and get a little bit of revenge. We want to make sure that we give our best and win the game and then get ready for the Super Cup,” he concluded.
