"We have still not reached the highest point yet": RB Leipzig star Yussuf Poulsen opens us about Frankfurt clash, journey with the club

The Polish striker opens up about the Bundesliga title race, his journey with Rb Leipzig and more.

RB Leipzig host Eintracht Frankfurt in a very exciting 5th vs 6th clash in the Bundesliga. Leipzig are just four points off the league leaders Bayern Munich and are still in contention for the title. RBL head into the game on the back off a 1-1 draw against Premier League giants Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. The Bundesliga side came back from a goal down to secure a draw, all thanks to a Josko Gvardiol header.

Leipzig will now be looking to cause an upset and qualify for the next round of the UCL. But they have big clashes against Frankfurt, Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach to take care of in the Bundesliga before the UCL tie.

Speaking to Khel Now, RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen spoke about the upcoming Bundesliga clash against Eintracht Frankfurt and the feeling in the Leipzig camp heading into the clash:

"That is, it's a home game for us if we want to have a realistic chance of yeah, yeah, yeah, being a contender for the title and then we need to win our home games and especially when they are some of our competitors that are close to us and points and I think with. Showed for a long time that we are, we are really good and we can perform well. We perform well in the weekend, we perform well now against Manchester City. And even the game before we lost against Union, we were performing well and should have won that game. And before that we haven't lost in 18 games, so we. Yeah, we are a strong team at the moment and we are really confident that we will get a win on the weekend."

The Polish striker joined the club in 2013 when the club was in the German third division. Polsen has seen the club rise through the German divisions and compete for trophies the likes of the Bundesliga and Champions League, making over 340 appearances and scoring over 80 goals. He opened up about the growth and the rise of the club in the past 10 years.

"It has been a long exciting journey. It started out very differently and with the expectations and the goals, going as fast and as high as possible. We have just been performing really really well over the last 10 years. We have maybe had one and a half seasons where we were not performing on the highest level. But other than that we have been continuously been performing better and better over the past 10 years and it has been an amazing journey to be a part of and seeing how good we adapt to change in expectations and the personal, the players that come and go. I have probably played with 150 different players in this club, not to even exaggerate. It has been amazing and i have the feeling that we have still not reached the highest point yet, we are still developing, we are still going forward and last year we won our first major title (DFB-Pokal) and I am sure in the years to come there will be even more."
