On Saturday night, the BiancoCelesti will host their rivals The Black and Blues at the Stadio Olimpico in what is going to be a feisty encounter.
Lazio will aim to cement their place further in the top four as they are just one point behind their city rivals Roma. Since their 1-1 draw against Verona in Serie A, Lazio were also knocked out of Coppa Italia by Juventus in the Quarterfinal. After the two 1-1 draws against Fiorentina and Verona, Lazio could draw three Serie A matches in a row for the first time since November-December 2018 when Simone Inzaghi was the manager of the BiancoCelesti.
Atalanta have had a quite few weeks after consecutive losses across all competitions. Although they sit at 5th in the table and just one point behind their rivals from this Saturday. As all did not go well in their latest trip to the Mapei stadium. Joakhim Maehle got sent off in the 30th minute as Gian Piero Gasperini’s men succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Sassuolo in their latest run-out in the Serie A. They were also knocked out of the Coppa Italia Quarter Final by high-flying Inter Milan courtesy of Lautaro Martinez. After the 1-0 defeat against Sassuolo, Atalanta could fail to score in two consecutive Serie A games for the first time this term; they last did that in May 2022.

Player to watch
Lazio
Pedro
Pedro has been a key figure in Sarri’s team after he departed from Roma in 2021. He generally plays as a forward or winger and is known for his pace, dribbling and ability to convert from counter chances. He has already scored 5 times and has 5 assists in his name across all competitions this campaign.
Atalanta
Ademola Lookman
Generally, he has a burst of pace in him which gives him an added advantage in his game. Drifting down the left flank, his agility and low centre of gravity has been menacing for defenders. He already has 12 goals in the Serie A this campaign and will be eager to extend his fine run of form.
Match facts
- Lazio’s last Serie A win against Atalanta at the Olimpico was back on January 15th, 2017 when they ran out as victors by 2-1.
- Lazio have only won two of their last 11 Serie A meetings against Atalanta (D5, L4).
- The last time they faced each other in Serie A, Lazio ran out victors by 2-0 away at the Gewiss Stadium courtesy of Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson.
Injury and team news
There are not many injury concerns for Maurizio Sarri as he has all his first-team players available for this fixture. Stefan Radu will be missing out due to a muscle injury while Diego Gonzalez has been called up for national duty. It is expected that Matias Vecino might get the nod ahead of Luis Alberto who has not been performing at his best in recent weeks.
Joakhim Maehle and Luis Muriel will be unavailable for the Bergamese due to suspension after both of them got sent off against Verona. Jose Luis Palomino and Davide Zappacosta both will be unavailable to make the trip to Rome due to a biceps femoris muscle injury. Marten De Roon had a slight nibble at the end of the match against Verona but it does not seem like a legitimate concern for Gasperini.
