The Blues scripted a turnaround for the ages in the latter half of the season to make it to their third ISL final.
Bengaluru FC were languishing in ninth place at the end of 2022. The team looked downtrodden and dejected but always believed that a turnaround was possible. At the dawn of the new year, they achieved just that. A winning run that started with a dogged victory away in Guwahati against NorthEast United continued throughout the rest of the league season.
BFC went on to win 11 in a row, and continued their impressive run in ISL knockout games before making it to the final for the first time since their successful 2018-19 season.
They qualified for the playoffs eventually in fourth place and hosted Kerala Blasters in the eliminator. BFC prevailed over their southern rivals and took down league Shield Winners over two legs in the semi-final following a second-leg penalty shoot-out. Let us look at the team’s road to the 2022-23 ISL final.
