ISL 2022-23: Top 10 goals of Indian Super League season 9

There were plenty of jaw-dropping goals in the recent season of the league.
The Indian Super League (ISL) is the most popular football league in India which attracts sensational football talent from all over the world. Similar was the case during the 2022-23 season of the league which saw ATK Mohun Bagan win the competition after beating Bengaluru FC on penalties.
Indian football fans saw a lot of high-quality football action across the season that also had brilliant goals. In fact, there was no shortage of world-class goals that kept the fans on the edge of their seats.
The 2022-23 season had some spectacular goals that made the fans go berserk and the commentators shout with elation. Here is a look at the top 10 goals from the ninth edition of the Indian Super League:
10. Isak Vanlalruatfela: Odisha FC 3 – 1 Hyderabad FC

Odisha FC’s 3-1 win over Hyderabad FC was impressive but one of the goals in the game truly won the hearts of the fans. Isak Vanlalruatfela scored the first goal of the game with a gorgeous long-range dipping shot with his right foot that gave no chance to Gurmeet Singh in goal.
9. Sunil Chhetri: Bengaluru FC 1 – 0 Kerala Blasters
This was perhaps the most controversial goal from the 2022-23 season of the ISL. Sunil Chhetri took a quick free-kick and scored past the unalert KBFC players in the first half of extra-time in the playoff eliminator. The Yellow Army walked out and the Blues secured the win in the aftermath.
8. Jake Jervis: East Bengal 3 – 3 NorthEast United
East Bengal played out a thrilling six-goal draw with NorthEast United and Jake Jervis scored the pick of the goals from the context. The striker scored with a brilliant overhead kick that caught the opposition off-guard and with no answer to a lovely bit of skill.
7. Adrian Luna: Kerala Blasters 2 – 1 Chennaiyin FC
Adrian Luna loves scoring spectacular goals in front of the home crowd. In KBFC’s 2-1 comeback win against Chennaiyin FC, the midfielder scored with a precise curling shot in the top right corner from the edge of the box to bring the game to equal terms, which then put the team in a position to score the winning goal, which it did later through Rahul KP.
6. Greg Stewart: FC Goa 3 – 5 Mumbai City
Greg Stewart is lethal in free-kick situations. He unleashed an outstanding shot with his left foot that curled past the wall and into the net, beating Dheeraj Singh, thanks to the pace and placement of the strike. It was an eight-goal thriller that the Islanders won in the end.
5. Roy Krishna: Jamshedpur FC 0 – 3 Bengaluru FC
Roy Krishna scored plenty of important goals for Bengaluru FC during the ISL 2022-23 campaign. However, the best of the lot was against Jamshedpur FC on 18 January 2023, in an away victory. He scored from range by generating immense power from a standing position, sending the ball into the top left corner.
4. Mohammad Yasir: Hyderabad FC 2 – 0 East Bengal

Mohammad Yasir’s acrobatic finish against East Bengal was one of the best goals that the side scored in the season. He controlled the ball exquisitely on the edge of the box and hit it without letting it drop past the goalkeeper into the top left corner, leaving the fans mesmerised.
3. Diego Mauricio: Odisha FC 1 – 1 FC Goa
Diego Mauricio finished the ISL 2022-23 season with the golden boot. The ISL’s top scorer with 12 goals scored one of the finest of the season as well. In a contest against FC Goa that Odisha FC finished 1-1, the striker scored with a free-kick which beat the wall and the top spin on it gave Dheeraj Singh no chance to stop it.
2. Adrian Luna: Kerala Blasters 3 – 1 Jamshedpur FC
Adrian Luna started and finished a sensational move by Kerala Blasters that saw six touches in nine seconds. He played a one-two with Rahul, then served the ball to Dimitrios Diamantakos who passed it first-time to Apostolos Giannou who then gave a back heel pass in Luna’s direction who finished with his left foot comfortably past the goalkeeper.

1. Cleiton Silva: East Bengal 2 – 1 Bengaluru FC
Cleiton Silva was the best performer in an underperforming East Bengal side. He scored several important goals for the team but the best one came against his former employers Bengaluru FC. In injury time, with scores at 1-1, standing over a free-kick roughly 30 meters away from goal, the Brazilian whipped a powerful and accurate shot into the top right corner, winning the game for his team in a fabulous fashion.
