Bundesliga 2022-23: Bayern Munich vs Augsburg: Predicted lineup, injury news, head-to-head, telecast
(Courtesy : Bundesliga)
The Bavarians are keen to cement the top spot as they meet Fuggerstädter on Saturday.
As Bayern Munich plays Augsburg in the Bavarian derby on Saturday, they hope to build on their recent victories over Union Berlin and Stuttgart. The defending champions are in the lead in the race for the Bundesliga championship, but Borussia Dortmund are closing in.
On the other side, the visitors continue their practice of giving significantly better performances at home than while travelling. Although Augsburg is not thought to be a good traveller, we do not think that they can eliminate a significant opponent in round 24.
Kick-off:
Saturday, 11-03-2023, 2:30 PM (GMT)
Saturday, 11-03-2023, 8 pm (IST)
Bayern Munich form (all competitions): W-W-L-W-W
Augsburg form (all competition): W-L-W-L-W
Players to watch
Bayern Munich: Chupo-Moting
Lewandowski's absence has not been noticed because Chupo-Moting has incredibly contributed to Bayern Munich's goal-scoring. Because of how well he has served the Bavarians, they are thinking about extending his contract.
Augsburg: Ermedin Demirovic
Ermedin Demirovic has been a prolific goal scorer for Augsburg this season, and ideally, he will do the same against Bayern Munich.
Match facts
- Bundesliga-high 4.1 goals are scored per game on average in league matches for Bayern Munich.
- In four of Augsburg's previous five away games, there were a minimum of four goals scored overall.
- In four of its last six home head-to-head matches, Bayern scored three goals or more.
Team and injury news
Josip Stanisic might start alongside Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt if Nagelsmann decides to stick with a back three because all three started against Stuttgart, and Manuel Neuer and Noussair Mazraoui are keeping Hernandez company in the locker room and Mane has also returned to action after injury.
Tobias Strobl is still recovering from a serious ACL injury, thus Felix Uduokhai will be out of commission for the foreseeable future for Augsburg.
Even though all three of these players are close to making their injury comebacks, Elvis Rexhbecaj, Reece Oxford, and Andre Hahn are also anticipated to miss this weekend's games for the hosts.

Predicted lineup
Bayern Munich: Sommer; Stanisic, Upamecano, De Ligt; Coman, Kimmich, Goretzka, Davies; Sane, Musiala; Choupo-Moting
Augsburg: Gikiewicz; Gumny, Gouweleeuw, Veiga, Iago; Maier, Engles, Dorsch, Demirovic; Yeboah, Berisha
Match Prediction
After toying with relegation early in the season, Augsburg have moved into a position of relative security thanks to a sequence of four unbeaten games over the past five rounds.
The three teams they just defeated were all rated tenth or worse in the standings, making it a whole different challenge to defeat Bayern on their own turf.
Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-0 Augsburg
