The Red Bulls meet the Europe’s most in-form team BVB at Signal Iduna Park to keep up the fight for the top four.
Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are two of the Bundesliga‘s most exciting sides, and their matchups have always been lively and dramatic. Football fans all over the world look forward to these matches because both sides have a tradition of creating talented players and good games.
The game between these two clubs on the first weekend of March is expected to be no different. The encounter could have a big impact on the remainder of the season because both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have been doing well in the league.
In a top European competition in 2023, Borussia Dortmund is the only club with a perfect record. Since Dortmund keeps winning games, they are in excellent condition on three fronts. Nine, to be exact, including a win over Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 as well as a round of 16 DFB Cup matchup against Bochum. Dortmund has never previously won its first nine games of a calender year.
The five-time Bundesliga winners are also close to tying another club mark going into their match against RB Leipzig on Matchday 23. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 in a league game at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday thanks to goals and assists from Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg, who are both still battling for a top-four finish.

Players to Watch
Dortmund: Marco Reus
The legendary skipper of Dortmund has been crucial to BVB’s successful team. With inventiveness currently being the least of Dortmund’s worries, particularly considering that they are the second-highest scorer in the league behind Bayern, his recent man-of-the-match display has also improved Julian Brandt and now injured Karim Adeyemi’s game. He will once more be the one to depend on as Dortmund continues its attack on Bayern’s title aspirations.
RB Leipzig: Christopher Nkunku
Christopher Nkunku will be ready for the team in their match against Dortmund, which will make Leipzig very pleased. Despite losing a significant amount of time due to a torn ligament, the Frenchman is still ranked second among Bundesliga’s leading goal-scorers this season. This season, the player has been deadly in front of goal, and his influence will undoubtedly help Leipzig step up their attack. Despite not starting in the match against Frankfurt, the player might still start for the team if he’s fit.
- The last three games between RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund (all in the Bundesliga) have all ended in victories for RB Leipzig, more victories than in the first 11 encounters.
- Borussia Dortmund is off to one of their finest starts to a calender year in 2023 after winning all seven of their Bundesliga games (same as in 2012 when they last won the league). No other team in the top 10 divisions in Europe has managed to win all nine games in 2023 other than BVB.
- In the Bundesliga this season, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have each tallied 45 goals and given up 27. FC Bayern is the only team that has tallied more goals while giving up fewer.
Team News and Injury update
Dortmund will be without Y. Moukoko and Morey who are both injured. Adeyemi – the UCL goalscorer is another star whose situation is in question. The striker actually exercised separately yesterday and may not play against the Red Bulls.
The same is evident for RB Leipzig, who will be without Amad Diallo and Dani Olmo due to their individual injuries. Leipzig’s shot-stopper Gulacsi is still not available due to his ACL injury but the good news is that Schlieck is training well and may be available for the matchup against BVB.
