The Red Devils suffered a thumping at the hands of Liverpool recently

The 7-0 loss to Liverpool suffered by Manchester United on Sunday was the club's joint-heaviest defeat historically.

Sunday's spectacular 7-0 humiliation by Liverpool at Anfield, the visitors' biggest competitive loss in more than 90 years, knocked Manchester United to its knees.

Barely one week following claiming the League Cup, United suffered the club's heaviest loss in all tournaments and its greatest loss in the Premier League.

Three times before, United has lost 7-0; the most recent being in 1931 against Wolverhampton. The result surpassed Liverpool's previous record victory over United, a 7-1 triumph in 1895.

4. Blackburn Rovers 7-0 Manchester United: Apr 1926

One of the first humiliating losses Manchester United has ever experienced. On Boxing Day, United journeyed to Blackburn, but what was going to happen there was unimaginable in their history of football.

The Old Trafford team watched as the Rover team scored seven goals past them, handing United one of their worst defeats. This was one of the first humiliating defeats in their history in 1926.

3. Aston Villa 7-0 Manchester United: Dec 1930

As the most decorated club in Europe once suffered another worse defeat in their history, United's level of competence at the club was called into doubt.

Following their humiliating loss to Blackburn, Manchester United suffered their second-worst humiliation of all time when they travelled to Villa Park to play Aston Villa in 1930 and lost 7-0.

2. Wolves 7-0 Manchester United: Dec 1931

The identical defeat with the same margin occurred at the tail end of 1930, although this time it included a different opponent, a different year, and a similar month. After the referee whistled the clock reach full time as United players stared at one another in disbelief as how they allowed seven goals.

The Old Trafford team suffered their third-most humiliating loss of all time, and this time it was the same score as when United faced Wolves in 1931 and allowed seven goals while scoring none, leaving another humiliating defeat in their record.

1. Liverpool 7-0 Manchester United: March 2023

Manchester United suffered a record 7-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool. The greatest blow the Red Devils have ever experienced was the embarrassment at Anfield.

Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunez, each scored twice and became the first Premier League trio in the twenty-first century to accomplish that feat while Firmino scored once.
