On Saturday night, Stamford Bridge will be the host for a mouth-watering clash between The Blues and The Blues on Matchday 28.

Chelsea can breathe a sigh of relief after back-to-back three wins across all competitions. Progression to the Quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after a 2-1 aggregate victory over Borussia Dortmund has some sense of elation for Potter and his men in the Chelsea camp. Although they remain stranded at 10th in the Premier League table, a top 4 spot might still be within their sight if Tottenham and Newcastle do not finish the season on a high note.

Everton on the other hand have beaten Chelsea in each of the last four Premier League campaigns, though all of their victories have been at home. Hovering just above the relegation zone and sitting at 15th in the table, they gave themselves a much-needed boost after their 1-0 win over Brentford in their recent run-out in the Premier League. Although Everton are winless in their last 11 away games against London sides (D3, L8).

Kick-off:

Saturday, 18-03-2023, 11:00 pm (IST)

Saturday, 18-03-2023, 05:30 pm (GMT)

Chelsea form (all competition): W-W-W-L-L

Everton form (all competition): W-D-L-L-W

Player to watch

Chelsea: Kai Havertz

Havertz has been described as a technically gifted, two-footed attacking midfielder who is comfortable with the ball on either foot and adept with his head. Playing mostly as a number 9 in the Chelsea side these days, he has found the back of the goal in recent weeks and will be looking to thrive again.

Everton: Dwight McNeil

Playing as an auxiliary wing-back against possessive teams, McNeil ranks highly in multiple defensive categories. Drifting down the left flank and putting in delicious crosses for the likes of Calvert Lewin and others, he has been an important factor in Dyche and Everton’s revival in recent weeks.

Match facts

  • Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 27 Premier League home games against Everton (W15, D12).
  • Following their 1-0 win at Goodison Park on the opening weekend, Chelsea are looking to complete the league double over Everton for the first time since 2016-17.

Injury and team news

Chelsea have Ngolo Kante back in the training but Graham Potter has insisted that they will be looking to have him fully fit before their Champions League encounters. Edouard Mendy will still be on the touchline with Kepa taking his place in the first XI. Christian Pulisic made his comeback from the bench against Leicester City but a front line of Mudryk, Havertz and Felix is anticipated for this fixture.

Andros Townsend’s knee injury will keep him out till the end of April while Dominic Calvert Lewin is also a big miss for The Toffees amidst all that is going on in the club. Nathan Patterson is also a little bit behind with his recovery after he suffered a knock on his knee and is likely to miss out in this fixture.

Prediction

Chelsea have certainly found some wind in their sails after a series of disappointments since the turn of the year.
