Thomas Tuchel targets Chelsea starlet Mason Mount as first signing for Bayern Munich
The German tactician had a good relationship with the English international.
Mason Mount may be on the transfer to Bayern Munich, as new manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly inclined to join forces with the Chelsea midfielder.
The German powerhouses, who shockingly appointed former Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel in place of fired manager Julian Nagelsmann last week, are apparently interested in signing the England international.
When Tuchel was in charge at Stamford Bridge, Mount was an important member of the team. In 2021, Mount and the German coach won the Champions League.
After protracted contract discussions between club and player, the 24-year-long-term old's future in west London has been questioned this year.
Sportsmail reported in November that Mount, who is still in contractual issues with Chelsea, rejected a £200,000-per-week offer in order to earn a salary closer to that of Raheem Sterling, another member of the England team, who left Manchester City in the summer and now makes £300 per week.
Neither party has reached a settlement, and also because Mount's current contract is slated to expire next summer, a departure is seeming more and more likely.
The Times reports that Bayern are seeking to take the opportunity of the contract standoff and sign Mount to a deal at a discount, in contrast to Chelsea's strategy of trying to get at least £50 million for the Englishman.
Due to the Blues' projected loss of £121 million last season, which followed a deficit of £153.4 million the season before, Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly will probably be forced to sell players in an effort to comply with Financial Fair Play requirements.
In contrast to Bayern, Liverpool have shown interest in Mount as they look to replace Jurgen Klopp's ageing midfield in the upcoming summer transfer window. Manchester United are also rumoured to be interested in the Chelsea star.
The Bundesliga winners, who have dominated the highest division in Germany each of the last ten seasons, are also interested in luring Anthony Barry, Chelsea's assistant coach.
Barry has informed the Blues that he would like to accompany Tuchel to Germany, and the clubs are currently negotiating remuneration in advance of a possible deal, Sportsmail reported on Tuesday.
Barry started working for Stamford Bridge under Tuchel but remained there when Potter became manager in September of last year.
