While the adage "Age is just a number" is frequently heard, it is crucial to consider age when playing a physical contact sport such as football.
Whenever footballers reach their 30s and concerns about their physical abilities begin to surface, everyone, from fans to analysts, starts bringing up the player's age.
Players often see some deterioration as they age. Few football players are able to maintain their level of play late in their careers since the sport requires so much physicality.
