These showstoppers have made a habit of stepping up when called upon.

Sometimes a goalkeeper's fingertip or even a quick glance might make all the difference. Whatever the shot-blocker does to stop the opposition from scoring a goal is just as valuable as a goal that is scored.

When their team was in trouble, these keepers failed to save them. Some people have, however, been able to step up their game and earn significant points for their teams. In light of this, let's examine the top five goalkeepers in terms of saves made thus far this season of the Premier League.

5. Hugo Lloris: 3.2 saves per 90 mins

The French keeper, who is in his 30s, has continued to play at an elite level this season as well. Lloris, who has been a fixture at Tottenham for decades, is yet to be replaced by the team. His time with Tottenham may be coming to an end at the conclusion of the current season, but even if he goes, he will undoubtedly leave a positive imprint, even if it would be unfortunate if he didn't win a title with them first.

4. Jordan Pickford: 3.4 saves per 90 mins

With a completion percentage of 53% and an average of 31 passes per game, Jordan Pickford also averages 1 assist. Jordan Pickford has been issued five yellow and zero red cards. The goalkeeper currently has 40 goals conceded in 27 league games played, while his five saves brought his season total to 93. Everton is now in the relegation zone, but Pickford has continued to thrive in goal and is trying to stay in the Premier League.

3. Neto: 3.7 saves per 90 mins

Goals allowed by Neto per 90 minutes are 1.33. He has stopped 63 of the 86 shots he has faced, giving him a save percentage of 73.26%. The former Barcelona goalkeeper is having a fantastic season with the Premier League team; he is among the top goalkeepers in the league for most saves per 90 minutes and hopes to maintain that level of play for the entire season.

2. Bernd Leno: 4.0 saves per 90 mins

One of the league's top players has been German goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who set a league record by making 4.0 saves per 90 minutes. With eight stops this season, Bernd has now surpassed every other Premier League goalkeeper in a single game. He performance has seen him attract new clubs and if he continues to shine then Leno could join a top club next season.

1. David Raya: 4.3 saves per 90 mins

Impact In the game on Saturday, Raya made a season-high number of saves but also gave up the most goals since October 29. After two straight games without a save, he made 11 saves. In the previous five games, he has made 19 saves but allowed seven goals. He now averages 4.5 saves per game and currently leads the league with 119 saves. Given that David Raya's contract with Brentford expires in less than 18 months, his future is unknown.
