Chelsea stars set for 30% salary reduction following Champions League absence for next season

Under Todd Boehly Chelsea players have signed a clause which will see their wages cut to 30% if they fail to qualify for Champions League
Following their disappointing campaign, a number of Chelsea players are expected to see pay reductions, with certain of them dealing with a 30% decrease.
The Blues are having a terrible season. They have just 39 points and are now ranked 12th in the Premier League. Despite having made the most spending in Europe over the last year, they did not advance in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, or Champions League.
Since Todd Boehly's group completed the acquisition last summer, Chelsea have spent nearly £600 million on new talent.
The new owners of Chelsea added provisions to contracts to safeguard themselves in the event that the team didn't advance to the Champions League, one of football's richest tournaments. For club chair Boehly, that dread is now a reality.
Chelsea sit 21 points behind Manchester United in fourth place, making it exceedingly improbable that they will finish in the top four of the Premier League. Chelsea might have qualified for the Champions League by winning the competition this season, but they were unable to do so. Tuesday night, the Blues were eliminated from the tournament by the current champions Real Madrid after losing 4-0 on the whole.
By proposing a new bonus scheme with a Champions League contract reduction option, Boehly protected his bases. Roman Abramovich, the previous owner, did not follow this tactic since he liked to provide bonuses for winning championships.
The condition will not apply to every player, including those who signed their current contracts during the Abramovich period. Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Mateo Kovacic, and Christian Pulisic are among the Chelsea players that are unaffected.
Enzo Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Ben Chilwell, among others, will still be paying closer attention to their wage checks.
Under Boehly, Chelsea stars have awarded some extremely lucrative contracts. While Benoit Badiashile and Malo Gusto have contracts that expire in June 2030, Fernandez, Mudryk, and Madueke all have more than EIGHT YEARS left on their current contracts.
Before Frank Lampard was appointed again as caretaker manager earlier this month, Bruno Saltor managed one game. Since then, Lampard has lost every game he has coached, leaving him with a dismal record of just one victory in his past 19 games in charge.
