When was the last time Napoli won Serie A?

The Italian top flight has recently become much more contested after Juventus dominated for nearly ten years.
Since the beginning of the decade, AC Milan and Inter Milan have both ended their respective league title droughts; Napoli are now seeking to do the same in 2022–23.
Prior to the month of March, Luciano Spalletti's team had only dropped one Serie A game and had amassed a commanding 18-point lead over the competition.
With several league games left, Napoli won't want to get ahead of themselves, but their supporters may be legitimately daydreaming about a scudetto that has eluded them for far too long.
Only twice in the club's history have The Blues won the Serie A championship, in the seasons 1986–1987 and 1989–1990.
Maradona shone brightly as they won their first scudetto, defeating Juventus by three points although Ottavio Bianchi's team lost their final three games.
The Blues won five straight games to close their season and win the scudetto for a second time three years later, after finishing in second place on two separate occasions.
Despite those victories, only four teams have placed second more frequently than the Partenopei's eight second-place finishes in Serie A.
Napoli last won the Serie A championship in the 1989–1990 season, which is more than 30 years ago.
With ace Diego Maradona scoring a club-record 16 goals during that brilliant season, they defeated Inter Milan by barely two points. The Partenopei won the Italian championship for just the second time.
Since then, The Blues have finished the second four times, all of which occurred in the last ten years.
When Juventus just edged them out for the championship in 2017–18, they came the closest. That season, Napoli won 22 of their first 26 league contests before taking just six of their final twelve.
