Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic fight for a spot in the final

With Celtic on the verge of clinching the Scottish Premiership title, Rangers will be desperate to prevent their bitter foes from adding another piece of silverware to their collection. The duo are two of the most successful teams in the competition, with Rangers winning 27 times and Celtic 20. So, it's no wonder that the two Glasgow giants are in the final again.

Rangers last won the competition in the 2010-11 season. They made the final in the 2019-20 campaign but lost 1-0 to Celtic and will look to avenge that loss this time. Celtic, meanwhile, have won four of the last five editions of the cup competition. They beat Kilmarnock 2-0 in the semifinals last month, while Rangers saw off Aberdeen 2-1 in extra time.

Celtic also dropped points as Motherwell held them to a 1-1 draw last weekend. However, it is just the third time they have failed to win in 33 league games and they remain in fine form ahead of Sunday’s clash. Ange Postecoglou’s men won 5-0 in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup against Greenock Morton in January. A 5-1 victory over St Mirren in the fifth round followed in February, and they won 3-0 in the quarter-final against Hearts last month. Celtic won four successive Scottish Cup finals between 2017 and 2020, taking their tally of titles to 40 during that period, although the record champions have failed to reach the past two finals.

Match Prediction for Rangers vs Celtic

Of course, Rangers invariably rise to the occasion when they come up against Celtic, but the Celtics have been operating on a different level to their Old Firm rivals in recent times. Celtic have enjoyed a prolific run in 2023, scoring 33 goals in ten games. They have a superior record in this year's League Cup than Rangers, but the latter have a good record at Hampden Park and should eke out a narrow win.Boasting a 13-point lead at the summit of the Premiership table, Celtic are expected to flex their muscles and reach a fifth Scottish Cup final in seven seasons. Rangers (2) vs (3) Celtic
