The semifinal first leg of the Coppa Italia tie ended in as 1-1 draw, was a feisty one with red cards received on both sides.

Romelu Lukaku came on as a second-half substitute in the 69th minute, and scored a stoppage-time equaliser from the penalty spot, in the 95th minute to bring Inter Milan level at the end of the first leg of the Coppa Italia against Juventus. He celebrated similarly to his goal in the International break for Belgium, with a recent trademark of sorts, fingers on his lips while also posing for a salute with his eyes closed. The celebration was in response to his celebration which the referee deemed as excessive, leading to a 2nd yellow card for the match.

Now according to his representative Roc Nation, Lukaku was subjected to vile and serious racist chants ever since coming on the pitch and his celebration was a response to all his critics.

A statement was posted shortly on Lukaku's behalf which read: "Tonight's racist remarks made towards Romelu Lukaku by Juventus fans in Turin were beyond despicable and cannot be accepted.

"Romelu scored a penalty late in the game. Before, during, and after the penalty, he was subjected to hostile and disgusting racist abuse. Romelu celebrated in the same manner he has previously celebrated goals. The referee's response was to award a yellow card to Romelu.

"Romelu deserves an apology from Juventus, and I expect the League to condemn the behaviour of this group of Juventus supporters immediately. The Italian authorities must use this opportunity to tackle racism, rather than punish the victim of the abuse. I am certain that the footballing world shares the same sentiment."

Lukaku was not the only player to have been sent off as the referee also showed red cards to club captain and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic who was involved in a scuffle with Juventus' goalscorer Cuadrado, who also saw red.
