Next Generation Cup 2023: Bengaluru FC vs Stellenbosch FC Live Updates

The Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) champions Bengaluru FC take on Reliance Foundation presents Next Generation Cup defending champions Stellenbosch FC simultaneous to the ATKMB vs West Ham United match at 4pm.
Bengaluru FC successfully defended their RFDL title, beating Sudeva FC in the final on penalties after coming back from deficits in either half. They were stretched to a shootout by eventual third-place finishers ATK Mohun Bagan in the semi-finals, with captain and goalkeeper Sharon Padattil impressing between the sticks with his leadership and composure.
Huidrom Thoi Singh has been a revelation for the Blues, and will hope to build on the promise he has shown throughout his career. Stellenbosch FC are a South African club, known for their keen attention to youth development. They made it to the finals in the 2022 Next Gen Cup, where they thrashed Leicester City 7-2.
Venue
The 2023 Next Gen Cup fixture Bengaluru FC vs Stellenbosch FC will be conducted at the Reliance Corporate Park in Mumbai between May 17 and May 26, 2023.
Format
The competition includes eight teams, who will be placed in two groups of four. Each team will play against all of their opponents in the group in a round robin format.
The top teams from each group will then play the final on the 26th of May.
The teams playing are going to be ranked on the basis of points. For a win, a team will get three points, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. At the end of all the games, if two top teams (in a group) are tied on points, then the following criteria are to be followed.
- Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams
- Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams
- Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams
- Goal difference in all group matches
- Goals scored in all group matches
- Penalty shoot-out if only two teams are tied and they met in the last round of the group
- Disciplinary points (yellow card = 1 point, red card as a result of two yellow cards = 3 points, direct red card = 3 points, yellow card followed by direct red card = 4 points)
