Feyenoord's Arne Slot 'agrees' to join Tottenham as new manager
The Feyenoord boss is set to join Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur have been without a manager since the sacking of Antonio Conte. Julian Nagelsmann had been the early front-runner for the Spurs job, only for the North Londoners to rule him out of proceedings. Last week it was reported that Tottenham had narrowed their search down to Arne Slot and former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.
While conducting their new manager hunt, Spurs were also after a director of football to replace Fabio Paratici. Brentford's Lee Dykes has been linked with the role, as well as former Bayer Leverkusen transfer chief Tim Steiden.
Arne Slot's dream season at Feyenoord
Slot was a midfielder himself but was always keen on becoming a coach, his first job was at AZ Alkmaar, under John van de Brom, and then he became the head coach in 2019.
Since he arrived in the Dutch league, Eredivisie, he transformed Feyenoord and the style of football that was played by them before his arrival. The 44-year-old helped the club win their second ever title in this century.
His agent had been in talks with Spurs and indicated that her client was interested in signing for the North London club this season. The former Feyenoord boss was earning £1.7m a year with the Dutch side and will cost £6m for Spurs. Now reports suggest that Feyenoord's Arne Slot has agreed to join Tottenham as their next manager.
His attacking mindset and playing style can help Spurs get back to European football after having a horrific couple of seasons. This season, even though Harry Kane is second in the goal scorer list this season, he couldn't help this Spurs side.
Tottenham were in the top four most of this season but they have struggled to continue their form. Currently, they are out of European football contention for next season.
Slot has impressed everybody around the world and especially in Netherlands, he was able to beat the giants of Dutch League, Ajax and PSV; with the next season and the transfer window coming up, there's a high possibility that Tottenham could end up signing players who play for the club and can handle the pressure.
His rise could help the Premier League, the club and they can fight for the top four next season and fight for their European spot. Slot's agreement is of no shock, even though Feyenoord are in the Champions League next season, he made it clear that he would like new challenge in future.
His entry in the Premier League is no shocker for the football fans, and we as fans can expect Spurs to excel next season.
