The Blues signed 16 players last season

This season, Chelsea have the highest wage bills in the Premier League. The Blues have heavily recruited players under the ownership of Todd Boehly, most of them for a high transfer fee. They have spent more than £600m on recruiting 16 players.

Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool made it to the top 4 in the standings. According to some sources, the London club has spent around £215.6m on wages in the top flight. Last season, Chelsea spent £33m less than the numbers this season.

The Red Devils spent around £213m and are just behind Chelsea in the standings. Erik ten Hag also recruited a few players in his first season in English football. The likes of David De Gea, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Casemiro are ranked in the top 10 for the highest-paid players.

Manchester City spent around £186m on wages. Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland are the highest-paid players on the team. Jack Grealish makes it to the top 3. Liverpool are fourth in the standings, and they spend around £164.6m on their players. Mohamed Salah is their highest-paid player.

North London rivals, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur finished 5th and 6th in the standings, respectively. The Gunners spent around £110.4m on their wages, and Spurs were just behind them on £110.2m.

Brentford have the lowest wage rate in the top flight. The Bees managed to make it into the top 10 in the EPL standings and paid around £33.5m in wages to their players.

Brighton & Hove Albion had the second-lowest wage rate. They achieved a lot of success this season and will definitely play in Europe next season. They paid around £41.8m wages to their players. Bournemouth recorded the third-lowest wage rate. The Cherries spent around £46.5m on wages and guaranteed their survival in the league.

Despite spending a huge amount on wages and transfer fees, Chelsea won't make it into the top 10 in the Premier League standings. The players looked unsettled, and the team struggled throughout the season. Looking at the current circumstances at the club, the owner is likely to add a few more players to the squad. This will also give some of the players an exit route. As of now, Chelsea leads the wage bills for the Premier League 2022-23.
