Gareth Southgate announces England squad for upcoming Euro 2024 Qualifiers
The Three Lions will play against Malta and North Macedonia
England have announced their 25-man squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers. The Three Lions will play their matches against Malta and North Macedonia. England leads Group C in the qualifiers. England won their opening match against Italy 2-1. They then earned a 2-0 win over Ukraine at Wembley.
Gareth Southgate has included 23 players from the English Premier League, one from the Bundesliga, and one from the EFL Championship. The manager has named three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards in the team.
Champions Manchester City have the most representatives in the team. Kyle Walker, John Stones, Kalvin Phillips, Phil Foden, and Jack Grealish make it to the squad. Stones has been exceptional at the back for Manchester City. He will surely be Southgate's number-one choice in defence.
Three Manchester United players also make it to the squad. They have the second-highest count. Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw will look to add an international cap or two to their names. Rashford and Shaw have featured regularly this season, but Harry Maguire has had very limited game time. Maguire has featured on a more regular basis for England than Manchester United. He is likely to get a start in one of the matches to be played.
Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale make it to the squad from Arsenal. Saka has performed exceptionally well for Arsenal this season. Ramsdale has also been a rock in the back. He has made 95 saves and kept 13 clean sheets in the Premier League.
Eberechi Eze makes it to the international squad for the first time in his career. The 24-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder scored ten goals and assisted four times in 37 league games.
