France announces squad for FIFA U20 World Cup

Les Bleus have revealed their 21-man squad for FIFA U20 World Cup

France U20 coach Landry Chauvin has named his 21-man roster for the FIFA U20 World Cup, which will be held and contested in Argentina between May 20 to June 11. Thimothée Lo-Tulala (20) of Hull City FC and Etienne Camara (20) of Huddersfield Town have joined the squad.

The roster, however, is primarily made up of players with little to no prior experience at the club level, with the main exceptions being Troyes' Alexis Tidibi (19) and Wilson Odobert (18), in addition to Lille's Alan Virginius (20).

As reported by L'Equipe, 28 players have had their World Cup calls denied by their clubs because the competition is not on the FIFA schedule.

As a result, Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto (19), Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel (18), Sunderland midfielder Edouard Michut (20), Montpellier free-scoring striker Elye Wahi (20), plus RB Salzburg Lucas Gourna-Douath (19) will be unable to make an appearance for Les Bleuets this month. In the group phase, France will face South Korea, Gambia, and Honduras.
