The world of women's football has achieved new heights in recent years, from increased participation to greater investments, women's football has gained all the momentum and attention like never before.
One of the moments that marked the rise of women's football was when 16,000 fans came to see the UEFA Women's Champion League final, which saw FC Barcelona defeat Chelsea FC by the score line of 4-0. This game was broadcasted in over 180 countries, reaching a global audience of millions which highlighted the growing popularity and importance of women's football.
2022-23 season has seen an impressive rise in women's football
The key factor this season has been in the growth of the fan base, and investors who are looking forward to the foreseeable future. Big stadiums around the world have been selling out and attendance has continued to grow. The timeline of the events has been massive, there has been record-breaking attendance this season:
5. Barcelona 's record-breaking moment
The official attendance record for a women's football match was 90,195 fans who turned out at the Rose Bowl for the World Cup final between the United States and China in 1999. Since then, the record has been broken twice by Barcelona. The record now is 91,648 supporters who came to watch Barcelona's semi final against Wolfsburg, even though the record fans have continued to come and support their team. In April, over 75,000 supporters came to support Barcelona at Camp Nou.
4. FA Cup Final
The final was held at Wembley, which was also called a "special day" for women's football. Chelsea faced Manchester City in one of the best games, Chelsea won the final 3-2. Sam Kerr was the standout performer for the winners Chelsea, her braced helped them win the title and complete their domestic double. Almost 50,000 fans came to witness this match, officially breaking the record for a women's club game in England.
3. Euro 2022 final
Last year, women's football took a great leap thanks to all the fans who came to watch England go up against Germany in England. The fans were already anticipating a trophy that summer and the final was won by the host team. Chloe Kelly gave scored the winner which helped England win the match, as soon as the ball went into the goal 87,192 fans went crazy and the celebrations began. The North London derby has set the Women's Super League attendance record twice. The Gunners kept a clean sheet and thrashed the Spurs by scoring 4 goals at The Emirates Stadium; even though 47,367 supporters witnessed, Arsenal supporters were so "noisy" that we can see the attraction towards women's football.

Arsenal's semi-final tie against Wolfsburg in the Women's Champions League broke another record in the fast-paced incline toward women's football. A crowd record for a women's club game in England which was earlier set at Wembley, over 60,000 supporters turned up and even though their side lost, the fans were reluctant to leave the stadium, continuing to support their team till the final whistle blew.
