Premier League 2022-23: Leicester City vs Liverpool: Predicted lineup, injury news, head-to-head, telecast
The King Power Stadium will be needing their 12th man on their toes as they collide with a side suddenly galvanized to secure a top European spot for next season
As Premier League comes very close to its closure for the 2022-23 season. We will see Matchday 36 end with two sides at opposite ends of the table fighting for different objectives in mind.
Leicester City, the Premier League champs of the 2015-16 season are on the verge of a downfall. They took a massive hit at the hands of Marco Silva's Fulham FC. Although goals were pouring from left to right in the match, Leicester ended up in the rear seat at the final whistle.
Liverpool on the other hand, seem to be a very different side lately. After an early Round of 16 exit against Real Madrid FC in the Champions League. And an away loss to current PL league leaders Man City. Jürgen Klopp's men have turned their game up a notch. They are unbeaten in last 8 PL games, out which only 2 were draws. This progress could now bear its fruit as well. As they have every chance to book an UCL spot for 2023-24 season.
Kick-Off:
Monday, 15 May 2023 at 8 pm BST
Tuesday, 16 May 2023 at 12:30 am IST
Location: King Power Stadium
Form
Leicester City (in all competitions): L-D-D-W-L
Liverpool (in all competitions): W-W-W-W-W
Players to Watch
James Maddison (Leicester City)
The Foxes were 4-0 down by 51' minute mark on the clock. They fought hard to give a much more aggressive comeback although their hopes were almost wiped away on the 70' minute Willian effort.
Maddison was at the core of Leicester's efforts throughout the game and even finished off a penalty at the 81' minute. We expect James Maddison to craft more chances for his team as The Foxes will go all out for all three points to have a shot at staying in the PL.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
The Egyptian king along with Liverpool seem to have been in command after the Round of 16 exit in UCL and a major beating by Manchester City in the PL. The right winger scored the only goal when Brentford paid a visit to Anfield on Saturday, to help his side collect all three points.
In the stats chart, he currently sits in the 4th position with 19 goals. And could get past Brentford's Ivan Toney who is at 20, by the end of the season.
Match Facts
- Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 8 PL games
- After Liverpool, Leicester still has two tough opponents in Newcastle United and West Ham. And a loss against the Reds could decide their relegation fate in PL
- Liverpool won the home fixture with a 2-1 margin and will be looking to do a double over the Foxes
Injury & Team News
Leicester City will be without Kelechi Iheanacho, James Justin, and Jannik Vestergaard.
At Liverpool, the Spaniard Thiago Alcântara was recently seen in clutches and we expect him not be in the squad anytime soon. Youngsters Stefan Bajčetić and Calvin Ramsay are also down with injuries. Fan favorite Roberto Firmino who is set to depart after PL season is over, won't feature as well either.
