Lionel Messi resumes training with PSG following 'public apology'
Lionel Messi was suspended by PSG for his unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia
After the ban for travelling to Saudi Arabia without permission was expunged, Lionel Messi resumes training with Paris Saint-Germain.
For taking the two-day excursion to the Middle East at the start of the week, the Argentinean apologised to the team and his teammates.
Messi was given a two-week suspension by PSG and had some of his pay deducted, but he returned to the team on Monday.
Following his absence from Sunday's 3-1 victory over Troyes in Ligue 1, Messi will be available for Saturday's home game against Ajaccio.
With four games remaining and a six-point advantage over Lens, the 35-year-old will make a comeback as PSG looks to win the league.
As part of his £25 million a year job as a country's ambassador, Messi headed to Saudi Arabia on Monday with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and kids Ciro and Mateo.
They were seen in photos taking in the sights of Diriyah and the city of Riyadh. The PSG players were supposed to have the day off on Monday, but manager Christophe Galtier made them report for extra training after the team's 3-1 loss to Lorient the day before.
Messi, however, was unable to turn around because he was already travelling to Saudi Arabia, where he may play football in the upcoming season.
Galtier and the director of sports Luis Campos did not approve the trip, therefore PSG punished Messi for 15 days and deducted some of his pay.
Messi apologised for skipping the training session in a social media statement to his teammates and the club on Friday.
"I thought we were going to have a day off after the game as always,' Messi began in the 39-second clip shared onto his Instagram story."
''I had this trip organised and I couldn't cancel it. I had already cancelled it before. I apologise to my team-mates and I'm waiting for what the club wants to do with me.''
