Top five managers with most LaLiga titles in history
These coaches have been one of the greatest in the Spanish league since its inception
LaLiga used to be the best league in terms of competition, rivalries and pure footballing talent. The likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Ozil, Neymar Jr and many more have played there. The Spanish top-flight has also had many exemplary managers as well, Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique and many more. These players as well as managers have achieved wonders and helped LaLiga cement itself as one of the best leagues in the world.
Some managers have dominated in LaLiga, winning the League more than once. Here are the top five managers with most LaLiga titles.
5. Pep Guardiola - 3
The Manchester City manager has won the Premier League title 4 times in 5 years. Moreover, he has also won the LaLiga title three times. Pep Guardiola is a mastermind and has established dominance in football with both FC Barcelona and Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola learnt from his mentor Johan Cruyff and applied them to assemble perhaps the most iconic team in the history of football. The 2009-10 FC Barcelona side won the iconic "Sextuple" under Pep Guardiola. Barcelona also won the LaLiga title three times in four years under Pep Guardiola.
4. Helenio Herrera - 4
In a time period where managers did not hold much importance, Helenio's contribution made him stand out. Herrera managed numerous teams in La Liga which includes the likes of Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, CD Malaga, Deportivo, Real Valladolid and FC Barcelona. However, he only earned silverware at Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Helenio won two LaLiga titles with Atletico Madrid and two with FC Barcelona. Herrera won various titles with FC Barcelona however there were several problems with him and the club at the time. This includes disagreements with star player Ladislao Kubala and eventually Helenio left FC Barcelona.
3. Enrique Fernandez - 4
The former FC Barcelona and Uruguayan player had to retire because of a serious knee injury. However what followed later in his career makes him a legendary manager. Enrique Fernandez is one of two managers to manage both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. He is also the only manager to win LaLiga with both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
