Mikel Arteta’s six-man transfer wishlist for summer 2023: Revealed

Arsenal will be busy in the summer transfer window as they have to bolster their squad to compete in the Champions League

Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo are two players on Mikel Arteta's list of six potential transfer targets as he looks to bolster his Arsenal team this summer.

Next season, the Gunners will play in the Champions League for the first time in five years, and Arteta is eager to enhance his squad in preparation for Europe's premier league. Despite a slight deterioration in form, Arsenal technically secured their position in the tournament last week with five games remaining.

After the Gunners overwhelmed Chelsea 3-1 on Tuesday night, Arteta thinks the title battle is still up for grabs. Even if they fail to win the Premier League this season, the team has made significant progress, and Arteta wants that momentum to keep building.

Here are the top six players Arsenal wants to sign next season

6 Marc Guehi

Given Rob Holding's inconsistent shape while William Saliba's injury, Arteta is probably going to add an additional centre-back. Marc Guehi of Palace has drawn praise since joining Crystal Palace in 2021, and the Gunners are keeping an eye on him in advance of the summer recruitment season.

5 Moussa Diaby

Moussa Diaby has piqued the interest of many Arsenal fans, with the Frenchman expected to depart for Bayer Leverkusen at the completion of the season. Diaby has nine goals and eight assists in 29 games for the German club this campaign, and Newcastle ranks among his many other pursuers.

4 Wilfried Zaha

Additionally, Arsenal is looking for new wide players. Wilfried Zaha was recently identified as a target because his deal with Crystal Palace expires this summer. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard may have competition from Zaha, who has frequently been linked with a move to the Gunners on numerous occasions.

3 Romeo Lavia

The Gunners are keeping an eye on Southampton's Romeo Lavia after he made an impression at St. Mary's last season. The Belgian moved from Manchester City this past summer, and despite the Saints' dismal Premier League performance, he has excelled.

2 Moises Caicedo

Arsenal are also keeping an eye on Caicedo, four months after his mooted January transfer was thwarted on closing day. Before Brighton made it clear that they weren't interested in selling him, the Ecuadorian appeared to be on his way to the Gunners in a deal worth roughly £70 million.

But during the conclusion of the time of year, Arsenal will try once again to sign Caicedo. Although he has since spoken about his progress with the Seagulls, the 21-year-old admitted in a statement that he wanted to leave Brighton for Arsenal in January. However, he may now be inspired to finally fulfil his long-term move to the North London club.

1 Declan Rice

In recent weeks, Rice has emerged as Arsenal's top target for a midfielder, and Arteta is 'increasingly optimistic' he can entice the England player to the Emirates Stadium. Since Rice's present contract expires next summer, the Spaniard hopes to speak with the 24-year-old prior to the conclusion of the current campaign.

Nevertheless, despite turning down several offers, West Ham are adamant that he is not for sale. They aim to keep Rice in the team for the foreseeable future and have the option of extending his deal by another 12 months, to 2025.
