Top five managers with most Premier League Manager of the Month award
This is awarded to the manager whose team has performed best in that specific month
Just like the Premier League Manager of the Season Award, there is another award. A Premier League Manager of the Month Award is given to a manager whose team has performed best in that specific month. Sir Alex Ferguson has set the record for both the Manager of the Season Award as well as Manager Of The Month Award.
Besides the top five, Harry Redknapp has a record of his own. He is the only manager to win this award under five different managerial positions. Harry has won it with Portsmouth, Tottenham, West Ham and Southampton. Some managers have set a record for this award in the history of the Premier League. Let's take a look at the top five managers with the most Premier League Manager of the Month Awards.
5. Jurgen Klopp - 9
The German manager has achieved wonders with Liverpool. His sheer determination, passion and ability to develop a team from scratch has made him one of the best managers in the world. Despite Liverpool underperforming as of now, Klopp is the only man who can turn the tide for them.
Jurgen Klopp’s biggest achievement at Liverpool was winning the Premier League title after a drought of 30 years. In this enthralling season, Jurgen won the Manager Of The Month Award 5 times. He is the only manager to have won the award 5 times in the same season.
4. David Moyes - 10
Moyes has managed Everton, West Ham and Manchester United in the Premier League. However he has only won a trophy with the Red Devils. Moyes won the Community Shield with Manchester United in 2013.
The fact that David Moyes won ten Manager Of The Month Awards in 11 years at Everton without winning a trophy shows his contribution. He helped Everton achieve 5 top 6 finishes and reach a FA Cup final. His biggest achievement at Everton was finishing fourth in the Premier League in 2005.
3. Pep Guardiola - 11
Manchester City's best manager and era has begun under the former Barcelona man, Pep Guardiola. Pep Guardiola has won the Premier League four times in five seasons. His contribution to Manchester City is absolutely astonishing. Before Pep's arrival, City were doing well in the Premier League. However, Pep turned the team into their absolute best form and made them an unrivalled force. It is no surprise to see him on this list.
Pep Guardiola is the only manager to have won the Manager Of The Month Award in four consecutive months.
2. Arsene Wenger - 15
Before Wenger arrived, Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United were dominating the league single-handedly. Arsenal under Wenger posed a big threat. Upon arriving in his first season, Arsene Wenger won the domestic double. They again went on to win the domestic double in the 2001-02 season. Yet again, Arsenal outdid Manchester United who were their closest rivals.
Wenger's biggest achievement was winning the Premier League title undefeated in the 2003-04 season. His team was termed as the " Invincibles" and they won 49 league games consecutively.
1. Sir Alex Ferguson - 27
It is no surprise to see the legend, arguably the greatest manager Sir Alex Ferguson on this list. In 26 years at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson won an astounding 38 trophies which includes 13 Premier League titles.
When Sir Alex Ferguson came from Aberdeen and managed Manchester United, he struggled in the first few seasons. However when the Premier League came to light, Sir Alex Ferguson dominated it completely. Manchester United did not finish out of the top three from 1991 to 2013. They only finished third on just three ocassions. He won the Premier League title three seasons in a row, that too twice.
It is no wonder that Sir Alex Ferguson has won the Manager Of The Month Award 27 times. Another record of his which no one will come close to.
