The Argentine manager is expected to have personal talks with the English forward over his contract renewal

Next Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is scheduled to meet with midfielder Mason Mount in an effort to convince him to sign an extension to his current deal, according to Football Insider.

According to those who are familiar with the 24-year-old's circumstances, Pochettino "would love" to keep the England international at Stamford Bridge.

The Argentine won't have any impact on the Chelsea board's financial offer to Mount, though.

Next month, Mount will have just one year left on his Blues deal. He has been heavily linked to a summer transfer.

Despite extensive negotiations about it, it is said that he is still not any closer to signing fresh terms with the club where he spent his formative years.

Liverpool and Arsenal are expected to compete for Mount's signing, according to a report from Football Insider published on April 29. Jurgen Klopp's team is convinced they are in the lead in the pursuit of a deal.

While German powerhouse Bayern Munich have also expressed interest in the midfielder, Man City and Newcastle have withdrawn from the race for his services.

According to his Stamford Bridge contract, Mount presently makes an estimated £80,000 per week. He signed it in 2019.

On February 15, reports said that in order to sign a new deal, he is requesting parity with top-earning Chelsea players like Raheem Sterling and Reece James.

After having surgery in April to address a longstanding stomach issue, Mount has been forced to miss the balance of the 2022–23 season.

In 35 games during an extremely difficult season for Chelsea, he managed a paltry three goals and six assists.

After finding a long-term Graham Potter replacement, the Blues are anticipated to hire Pochettino soon.
