Real Madrid continue to search for defensive reinforcement

European football has seen a lot of Real Madrid and Liverpool recently, the two clubs have been involved in high-intensity matches for the past few years now. The two clubs have met in the UEFA Champions League more often now, with both of them facing each other in the knockout stages and the final.

With both teams looking to strengthen their squads this summer, there was enough talk of Jude Bellingham signing for Liverpool, he was on Liverpool's radar for a very long time now but Real Madrid have made sure he signs for Los Blancos. Roberto Firmino, Liverpool legend, is also linked to Real Madrid as he is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

Ever since the club legend, Marcelo, was about to call his time at Real Madrid, nobody has been able to fill his shoes properly. Real Madrid, by far is the only club which has maintained a proper 23 man squad for years now. Due to Marcelo's fitness and playing time, they signed Ferland Mendy from Lyon in 2019.

The French international joined Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, and Rodrygo during Zinedane Zidane's time at the club, as he was looking to reshape his squad after they had a disappointing 2018-19 season.

Ferland Mendy has appeared in 90 matches for Real Madrid so far, he has scored 5 goals for Real Madrid since his joining. He has been away from football since January, he suffered a thigh injury which has kept him out for so long.

Carlo "The Don" Ancelotti has tried Nacho, Camavinga at the left-back position and the young superstar Camavinga, who joined as a scintillating midfielder is now the first choice left back for Carlo and his men. The French youngster has been open about how he likes to play in the center of the field but has to adjust because the team needs it and he has not disappointed at all.

During their success for the past couple of years, he has been vital for their squad, scoring some world class goals and providing some essential assists, one of that came in the first leg of semi final match against Manchester City in the Champions League this season.

But, their problem of having a proper left back has not been properly solved since Marcelo, so the club will look to sign somebody who can settle well in their system. One name that has come up recently is of Andy Robertson, the captain of the Scottish national team. Andrew Robertson has established himself as a key part of Jurgen Klopp and his team, he has contributed in the club's success recently. Liverpool won the Champions League, Premier League with Robertson being one of the key defenders for Liverpool.

Even though he did not have a great season and decides to leave the club, Real Madrid are one of the clubs that will track the Liverpool icon this off season and try to sign him, ending their long wait of having a proper left back.
