The striker is currently out on loan with Serie A giants Inter Milan

Romelu Lukaku, the 29-year-old Belgian forward who is currently playing for Inter Milan, was sent to Italian Giants on loan a spell after a nightmare spell at Chelsea. Lukaku first joined Chelsea in 2011 as a highly-talented teenager from Anderlecht.

He struggled to break into the Chelsea's first team and was eventually loaned out to West Bromwich and then to Everton. During his time at Everton, he went on to become one of League's most prolific strikers, scoring 87 goals in 166 appearances.

In 2014, he signed permanently for Everton, but after only 2 seasons, he was picked up by Manchester United who then were managed by Jose Mourinho. He was not able to show his competitive game and that striker instinct which everybody saw at Everton. Soon, he was on the move again to Inter Milan; he won the Serie A title with them making a deadly partnership with Lautaro Martinez.

During summer 2021, he signed for the Blues from Inter Milan. But, Thomas Tuchel (the manager at that time) and Lukaku did not have a good relationship which eventually led Lukaku to go out on a loan spell again at Inter Milan.

Chance to 'relaunch his career' at Chelsea

Early speculations of hijacking Pochettino have made it clear that he is interested in bringing back the striker to the club. Chelsea's spending this season might prevent them from signing new striker, so a Romelu Lukuaku return is possible. Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed that Chelsea's 'idea is to introduce Lukaku to their new project' and 'make him feel what Pochettino has in mind for him.

We all have seen Pochettino's style of play during his Tottenham days, and how he transformed Harry Kane into a more reliable striker. Pochettino can actually play to the strengths of Lukaku, with all the young signings that Chelsea have made it is going to be interesting to see Lukaku come back and perform under a world-class manager in Pochettino. A healthy mid-field, wing backs of Ben Chillwell, Reece James, and Enzo Fernandes can contribute to Chelsea, Pochettino, Lukaku's success; the results are inevitable if Chelsea sign Pochettino and bring back Lukaku.
