The final game week of the popular fantasy football league can make or break the season for the respective users.

As the final matchday of the 2022-23 season of the Premier League approaches, fantasy football managers are preparing for the final game week of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) too. The most popular fantasy football league reaches the end of another entertaining season and the managers hope to end with a huge points tally by making the ideal team selection.

The final game week can make a huge difference in the overall rankings of the FPL managers. Getting a better score than the competition is the aim in order to finish well in respective public and private leagues in addition to overall rankings. That is where differentials step in.

A differential in FPL is a player who has less ownership in the game. Selecting a differential is risky but can be rewarding if the managers make a calculated call. Here is a look at five differentials that the FPL managers can target ahead of the game week 38 deadline:

Jamie Vardy

Leicester City needs a lot of things to go their way in order to avoid relegation from the Premier League. The side is up against West Ham United in the final game week, aiming for a win and hoping that Everton drops points in their fixture against Bournemouth.

Jamie Vardy may turn out to be the hero that delivers goals in this fixture. He is owned by only 2% of FPL managers therefore can be a brilliant differential.

Jarrod Bowen

The game between Leicester City and West Ham has the potential for goals due to the stakes on the line. As the Foxes push for goals, they will leave spaces for counter-attacking opportunities for the Hammers.

One of the key players for David Moyes’ side is Jarrod Bowen. Only 3% of the FPL managers have the striker in their squads ahead of the final game week. He had a goal and an assist, amassing 13 points in the previous game against Leeds United.

Son Heung-min

Tottenham Hotspur players are not popular picks this season apart from Harry Kane. However, heading into the final game week, Son Heung-min can be a brilliant differential. He is owned by 6.1% of managers in the FPL, which is a low number considering his quality.

The South Korean international may get several chances to score as Leeds United makes a desperate push for goals in order to win and hope for survival in the Premier League. The only drawback is Son’s price of £11.5m, the fourth-most expensive in FPL.

Alejandro Garnacho

Manchester United have a FA Cup final coming up and can rest a few key players ahead of it. Alejandro Garnacho may start in the final league game against Fulham seeing that Marcus Rashford is working towards full fitness. He is currently enjoying a 1.2% ownership in FPL and has the potential to be an excellent differential.

He costs only £4.1m in FPL, therefore, is light on the budget as well. As the Red Devils look to secure a spot in the Champions League next season, FPL managers can take a risk with Alejandro Garnacho and hope for attacking returns.

Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer of Manchester City may not be a popular pick but can feature in the team’s final fixture due to Pep Guardiola’s rotation. The manager is giving fringe players chances to shine after securing the league title. He costs £4.2m only and has merely 0.1% ownership in FPL.

Cole Palmer provided the assist for Julian Alvarez in the win against Chelsea FC. He set up a goal for Erling Haaland but VAR overturned it in the fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion. The midfielder is likely to feature again as Guardiola rotates his squad and rests key players ahead of FA Cup and UEFA Champions League finals.
