Chelsea hold talks with gambling company Stake.com to become next jersey sponsor
Chelsea are set to part ways with current jersey sponsor three
Despite the impending ban on such sponsorships in football, Chelsea are in talks with gambling giant Stake.com to sign on as their new jersey sponsor.
Premier League said in April that shirt-front gambling partnerships will be forbidden after the 2025–26 time of year, but they will nevertheless be permitted up until that point, giving clubs time to continue to prominently display the logos of gambling companies.
Chelsea have been searching for a replacement for Three, which three-season contract with the club expires this summer. Three also made an attempt to sever connections with the team after the previous Russian owner Roman Abramovich was punished last year by the phone company.
A couple of prospective substitutes, including the German insurance company Allianz, have been discussed.
But as they seek to increase their involvement in sports, Stake, an online casino and gambling device, is growing as a challenger. Chelsea opted not to respond.
Everton which sponsors Watford, have their logo on the sleeves of many other clubs' shirts and is also active in other sports like F1 and UFC.
Stake is apparently ready to pay comparable to and much more than Allianz proposed, dwarfing the company's £10 million per year, club milestone collaboration with Everton announced last year. Chelsea's contract with Three was worth £40 million per season.
It was initially intended to last until at least 2024–25, and it is anticipated that it will not change should arrangements with Chelsea also be agreed upon.
Eight clubs had contracts for sponsorship that could become affected when the Premier League decided to ban betting sponsorships.
