The Spanish defender is set to be reunited with Unai Emery

Pau Torres will rejoin his previous boss Unai Emery at Aston Villa after Villians reached an agreement with Villarreal. The Spain defender is believed to cost approximately £35 million.

After talks on Thursday, Villarreal reportedly approved Villa's bid for Pau Torres, who is out of a deal at the conclusion of the current season.

Pau Torres is already thought to have personally agreed to terms for a move to Villa Park. He was Emery's top summer target, and the upcoming transfer suggests the 26-year-old will significantly increase Villa's defensive security.

Following his strong LaLiga exploits from the previous season, Bayern Munich had also been keeping an eye on Torres, who has 23 appearances for Spain's national side.

However, with Bayern Munich reportedly expected to pay €50 million (£43 million) for Kim Min-Jae to leave Napoli, Torres will reunite with Emery after the Spaniard spent two years as Villarreal's manager.

Torres, a graduate of the Spanish club's junior programme, has played more than 170 times for Villarreal's main squad and was a member of Spain's squad in Qatar during the 2022 World Cup.

Kim, a South Korean defender, has agreed to a five-year contract with Bayern, which will allow Paris Saint-Germain to finalise its acquisition of French defender Lucas Hernandez.

Exactly six players in La Liga this year made more passes towards the final third than Torres, and the centre-back had 197 progressive passes overall, which was the 10th most among all players.

solely a couple of players in Europe's top five leagues gained more progressive carrying distance than he did, totalling 7,623 yards.

Additionally, Torres made 2.495 passes of the ball this past season, ranking fifth in La Liga. He will be essential to Villa's ball movement and build-up in the thirds.
