Bayern Munich submit first bid of €70m for Harry Kane

England's captain is closing on a move to the Bundesliga giants
As reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, Bayern Munich have made a bid of around €70 million (£60 million). for Harry Kane, who is also wanted by Manchester United.
The Tottenham Hotspur player, having just one year left in his current deal at the North London club, saw Manchester United as a clear contender to sign him.
The negotiations with Spurs president Daniel Levy, who is reluctant to part with any of his players to a leading-four competitor, were always going to be challenging, despite earlier rumours that Kane preferred the Old Trafford move.
Ornstein said, “Bayern, under the stewardship of former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel, are in the market for a new forward this summer with Kane high on their list of priorities.”
After reportedly admitting defeat a few days ago, Manchester United reportedly moved their focus to other targets, like Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani.
Here comes Bayern, who have been looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski since he left for Barcelona last summer.
And the incredibly trustworthy Ornstein reports that discussions are currently underway with a lowball offer of £60 million after Kane made positive comments to the Bavarian club yesterday.
If Bayern Munich's offer, or one very similar to it, wins over, it will be a blow to United, who were rumoured to be prepared to spend more than £80 million for Kane, should they lose out to a team making a far lower offer.
Additionally, it appears to be an odd choice for the player, who few thought desired a move to the Premier League as he pursued Alan Shearer's all-time scoring records.
Harry Kane is rumoured to want to leave Spurs in order to win silverware, which he will undoubtedly do at Bayern, but it's interesting that his vision was a Bundesliga champion's medal. At this point, it is unclear if United will make another bid for Harry Kane.
Levy may be tempted to make an inconceivable decision if they did and their offer was much bigger than Bayern's, but as things are, that conclusion appears doubtful.
