FIFA set to test Arsene Wenger's proposed new 'offside rule' on trial period

The rule will be tested in three countries
FIFA is about to make yet another significant modification to the offside rule. Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who left the Gunners in 2018 and has served as FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development for the previous four years, proposed the change.
He wants to modify the rule once more, this time altering whatever body component is used to determine offside.
Currently, a player is considered offside if any part of their body is nearer to the opposing goal line than the ball, the second-last opponent, or their own half when the ball is being delivered.
Since one of those two players is nearly always the custodian, a player will typically be offside if the ball or one outfield opponent is not in front of the goal line.
FIFA will change the offside rule, though. With Wenger's plan, the player's entire goal-scoring physique will be considered. This implies that the attacker will stay onside if any portion of their body is behind the final defender.
Attackers will undoubtedly be encouraged by the news and have a significant advantage when trying to make runs off of opponents as a result.
A striker will naturally maintain themselves while moving ahead, pointing their arms in the direction they plan to run. This is a much better stance than a defender, who must simultaneously watch the ball and follow their run.
The Netherlands, Sweden, and Italy will be among the first countries where the new law is put into effect in a trial period. The rule change has already gained supporters on social media.
A supporter tweeted: "Get Werner and Morata back; we have the title to win." Other jokes were made regarding the tendency of former Chelsea forwards Timo Werner and Alvaro Morata to make runs too early.
