Nigeria has won the title five times

The FIFA U-17 World Cup, the international men's youth football competition held every two years between the under-17 national teams of FIFA member organisations, will take place for the 19th time in 2023.

The dates are November 10 to December 2, 2023, in Indonesia. The FIFA U-17 World Cup will be held in Southeast Asia for the first time, and Indonesia will be hosting its first FIFA tournament.

Additionally, it will be the first FIFA Event to be hosted in the area following the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand in 2012.

The competition is back after a 4-year break because FIFA had to postpone the 2021 edition because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With a fourth championship in 2019, Brazil is the current champion.

The 2021 FIFA U-17 World Cup will be held in Peru, as revealed after a FIFA Executive conference on October 24, 2019, in Shanghai, China.

Peru was given permission to host the 2023 event after the event in 2021 was postponed.

But on April 3, 2023, Peru withdrew as host after lengthy negotiations between the Peruvian Football Federation and FIFA about the hosting suitability of Peru due to its infrastructure flaws. FIFA, therefore, announced the immediate opening of a replacement hosting rights bidding process.

On June 23, 2023, FIFA formally named Indonesia as the new venue. This move is thought to have been made as payback for Argentina receiving the hosting rights for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup after Indonesia objected to the Israeli team's participation in that event.
