Robert Lewandowski had an excellent debut season in Spain

The LaLiga 2022-23 season was filled with exhilarating moments, outstanding performances, and fierce competition. As the season drew to a close, several players, teams, and coaches stood out for their exceptional contributions.

Sevilla finished 12th in the points table, but they still qualified for the Champions League as they beat AS Roma in the Europa League final, which means that they will compete in the Champions League next season. The likes of Valladolid, Espanyol, and Elche have been relegated this season; the fight for relegation in LaLiga was very close this season.

LaLiga winner: FC Barcelona

The fight between the top two was very close this season. Barcelona and Real Madrid had a tough battle this season. Midway through the season, Real Madrid was sitting at the top of the table, but a bunch of games where they lost led their lead to slip away, and Barcelona took over.

Xavi and his men displayed determination and discipline the entire season. Barcelona's campaign came to a close with a 2-1 defeat at Celta Vigo, but they managed to end the season comfortably clear at the top of the LaLiga table. An excellent campaign saw Xavi's side claim 88 points from 38 league games, finishing 10 points clear of last season's champions Real Madrid.

Top goal-scorer: Robert Lewandowski

In his debut season with Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski impressed everybody with his goal-scoring ability. The Poland international topped the standings in his first season in Spanish football, finishing with 23 goals from 34 league games for Xavi’s side. Lewandowski ended the season four goals ahead of Karim Benzema and seven clear of Espanyol’s Joselu.

Lewandowski won the Pichichi Trophy in his first season; he won this trophy without scoring a single penalty, and he is the first player to do so since Dani Guiza in the 2007-08 season. He ended his season with 33 goals in all competitions.

Top assist provider: Antoine Griezmann

Antoine Griezmann is said to be one of the most important players in Diego Simeone's squad, his improvement this season has been remarkable, and the results of Atletico Madrid in the last few months of the competition were mainly because of the impact of Griezmann.

Antoine Griezmann was the most decisive player for them and is the footballer who has generated the most goals in the entire domestic competition. The numbers don't lie: in 33 games played, 'Grizzi' has been involved in a total of 26 goals. He has assisted in 16 of them, seven more than Vinicius Junior, who sits in the second spot.

Goalkeeper of the season: Marc-Andre ter Stegen

The Barcelona goalkeeper was in incredible form this campaign and won the Zamora Trophy for his performance in this campaign. Xavi has labelled him as the best goalkeeper in world football after he won the 2022-23 Zamora Trophy.

He was incredible for Barcelona this season, as they went on to lift the LaLiga trophy for the first time since 2019. He kept 26 clean sheets and conceded only 20 goals. He was just one clean sheet away from breaking the all-time record of most clean sheets in a single LaLiga season, which was set by Francisco Liano in 1993-94, he kept 26 clean sheets for Deportivo in that season.
