Liverpool sign World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton

The Argentine joined Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2019
According to Fabrizio Romano, Premier League giants Liverpool have signed Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister. The World Cup winner with Argentina is set to sign a five-year deal with the Merseyside team. This will keep him at the club until June 2028.
Liverpool will pay the buyout clause for the 24-year-old. The fee, however, is not disclosed but is set to range between £45 million and £70 million. Alexis Mac Allister will be their first signing of the summer.
The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League this season. Jurgen Klopp's men were inconsistent and had a trophyless season. Injuries also hampered their chances of a top-four finish.
Another area where Liverpool struggled was their midfield. They were lacking creativity, and their experienced players were also failing to deliver.
Alexis Mac Allister was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in 2022–23. The World Cup triumph boosted his confidence, and he led Brighton to a top-six finish. They were five points behind Liverpool in the league table.
Liverpool were chasing England and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham. He is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world at the age of 19. Real Madrid also had their eyes on Bellingham, and he is likely heading to Spain.
Alexis Mac Allister has played 98 Premier League games. He has scored 16 goals and provided five assists. Last season, the Argentine played 35 matches. This was his best season in the Premier League. The 24-year-old registered 10 goals and created two for his teammates.
Brighton & Hove Albion signed James Milner from Liverpool on a free transfer for the upcoming season. Alexis Mac Allister is going the other way around. He is likely to be a regular starter along with the likes of Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and a few other youngsters.
Liverpool missed out on Champions League football for the 2023-24 season. They will now look to build a strong team for next season and contest for the Premier League title as well as other cups. Alexis Mac Allister is now set to play a big role at Anfield.
