The UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan will take place this weekend in Istanbul.
The most significant club match in football history will be played in Istanbul, and City will be competing to win the trophy in their debut and complete the fabled Treble.
Given City’s terrifying supremacy, Inter enters the game with absolutely no expectations whatsoever, which may work to their advantage as they attempt to win the European Cup for a fourth time.
The UEFA Champions League has seen four previous meetings between English and Italian teams; Liverpool remains the only English club to have faced an Italian team thus far.
In their existence, Manchester City have been in just two European finals, and in the UEFA Champions League final in 2021, they fell to Chelsea by a score of 1-0.
Inter Milan are participating in its eleventh major European final; the only Italian teams with a higher record are Juventus and AC Milan.
The primary objective of Manchester City is to win the UEFA Champions League and become the fourth English to do so in history, which would make England the nation with the most different Champions League winners.

Manchester City vs Inter Milan: Overall head-to-head
City have Inter have never faced each other in any competition.
Manchester City have only ever participated in two European championship games, and in the UEFA Champions League final of 2021, they lost to Chelsea by a score of 1-0. The only Italian teams with a better record than Inter Milan are AC Milan and Juventus. Inter Milan is competing in its eleventh major European final.

There are many matches involving Inter and English teams to take into account given Inter’s extensive history in European contention and the Premier League’s consistent presence in each competition.
The most notable recent Champions League encounters between Inter and English opponents occurred in 2010, when they were placed in the same group as Tottenham. The Nerazzurri quickly jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the match at San Siro thanks to goals from Javier Zanetti, Samuel Eto’o, Dejan Stankovic, and Eto’o a second time by halftime.
