Premier League champions secured their 7th FA Cup title

Manchester City lifted the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Manchester United in the final match. This is the second title of the campaign. Now they only need to win their last match of the season against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final. If they win the final, then Manchester City will become the second team from England to secure a treble.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring in the first minute for the 2018-19 FA Cup winners. He volleyed a shot past David De Gea in Manchester United's goal to give his side an early lead. Manchester United responded with a few chances and were awarded a penalty in the 33rd minute. Bruno Fernandes converted the penalty and levelled the scoring.

The second half started 1-1 and the Premier League 2022-23 champions made a better start. They took the lead in the 51st minute. Ilkay Gundogan doubled his tally for the match. Kevin De Bruyne was the creator behind both goals.

Manchester City had not conceded a goal in the FA Cup 2022-23 until the final match. Bruno Fernandes became the first player to break their defence in the domestic competition. However, Gundogan's brace proved to be the differential in the match.

This was the first Manchester Derby in a FA Cup final. The Blue side of Manchester came out as the eventual winners. Pep's men will now target the UEFA Champions League title. Manchester City players have a chance to get into the history books.

Riyad Mahrez scored five goals in the competition and was Manchester City's highest goal-scorer.

Pep Guardiola has now won seven major titles with Manchester City. This was his second FA Cup triumph with the league champions.
