Manchester United's search for 2nd silverware ends with defeat against Manchester City in FA Cup final

This was their 21st appearance in the domestic cup final
Manchester United suffered a 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, as United's hopes of securing the second silverware were dashed by their local rivals.
Manchester City controlled the whole encounter and scored the game's first goal minutes before the kickoff whistle was blown.
However, Manchester United levelled the scoring when Jack Grealish handed the ball into the penalty area, and Fernandez stepped up to coolly slot the penalty to make it 1-1. Despite the fact that both sides were tied going into halftime, City's clinical instincts once again paid off when Gundogan's shot reached the back of the net.
Manchester City kept their composure and maintained control of the game, applying pressure to United's defence but failing to capitalise on their opportunities. And, as is usual, City's main facilitator Kevin De Bruyne played a role in both goals.
Although Manchester United came close to making it 2-2 when the ball was played into Scott McTominay, Ortega quickly diverted the danger. In the meantime, Manchester United failed to apply pressure on City's backline, as they remained unbothered much of the time.
As both sides headed into injury time, City were minutes away from securing the FA Cup, and after City took the corner, Paul Tierney blew the final whistle as Manchester City beat Manchester United 1-0 to win the FA Cup of the 2022-23 season.
On June 10, they will play Inter Milan in the Champions League final, which will be their next and last game of the season. And that match might determine whether or not they win the triple crown.
If City wins their first Champions League, they will become the second English team to do it after Manchester United since 1999.
