With the departure of Edin Dzeko from Inter Milan likely to happen, the club faces the challenge of finding a suitable replacement to maintain their attacking prowess. Inter Milan will be looking for strikers who can contribute with goals, strength, and the ability to lead the line effectively.

As Inter Milan looks to maintain their status as one of Italy's top clubs, finding suitable replacements for these prolific strikers becomes imperative. Here are the top five replacements that Inter Milan could make following Edin Dzeko's exit.

5. Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)

Firmino arrived in Liverpool from Hoffenheim on a five-year deal for a fee of about £29 million in the summer of 2015. At the time, there was plenty of scepticism about the Brazilian, who became the club’s second-most expensive player after Andy Carroll (£35 million).

Over the next eight years, he dispelled those worries and became just about every Liverpool fan’s favourite player. The hard-working, intelligent, and consistent striker was an integral part of Klopp’s best sides that won the Champions League and Premier League and left this summer an undisputed club legend.

4. Folarin Balogun (Arsenal)

After recently confirming his nationality with America, the Gunners are set to decide on Balogun, and he could cost more than €30 million. Balogun caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs following an impressive loan spell at Reims last season, where he scored 21 goals in Ligue 1.

Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun has also been linked with Inter. After Kai Havertz agreeing terms with Arsenal, it might be possible that Balogun decides to leave Arsenal for more playing time at a club where he is appreciated.

3. Mateo Retegui (Club Atlético Tigre)

The 24-year-old rose to prominence following his impressive goal-scoring stint at Tigre. Born and raised in Argentina, he made his debut with the Italian senior team months ago. Retegui scored 23 goals and provided three assists in 42 matches while playing as the designated centre-forward for Tigre. Nineteen of the goals came in the league, making him the highest scorer in the entire league. This helped Tigre finish seventh in the league.

What was more impressive is that 13 of these goals came when Boca Juniors were either in a losing situation or were drawing a match, which helped them win an additional 15 points. With his impressive performances, he is on the radar, and Inter are in pole position to sign him.

2. Marcus Thuram (Borussia Monchengladbach)

Thuram had reached the end of his contract with Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach and was therefore available as a free agent. The Frenchman had been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain. Thuram was reportedly unconvinced by the sporting project given the uncertainties surrounding the managerial situation at the club.

The son of the legendary defender Lilian Thuram finally had to make a choice between Inter Milan and AC Milan. Inter would look to secure this signing ahead of the upcoming season.

1. Jonathan David (Lille)

Jonathan David is another option after netting three more goals than Balogun last season. The Canadian striker has been the primary source of goals for Lille over the last few seasons, and he is poised to leave the French outfit for a top club this summer. Inter have been previously linked with David, who would represent a significant investment for the future.

The 23-year-old is ready to perform on the biggest stage and in the biggest clubs. David has also become a capable, instinctive passer and overall connector of play. He can receive ground passes and has good touch with either foot.
