Top five players Bayern Munich should target this summer
The Bundesliga defending champions will look to defend their title again this term
Bayern Munich are reportedly planning a restructure in the transfer market and their approach towards signing new players. They are going to revamp both their strategy for recruiting new players and the transfer market. Additionally, since the epidemic has negatively impacted their income stream, they are now prepared to sell their star athletes to generate money. While that is a big blow for the club, they are still looking to challenge for the titles on the pitch and compete with the very best around the world.
With all that in mind, here are five moves Bayern Munich could make in the summer transfer window:
5. Sofayan Amrabat (Central Midfielder, Fiorentina)
Sofyan Amrabat has played high-level football for a number of seasons throughout Europe, with his current stint with Fiorentina seeing him emerge as a versatile, well-rounded midfielder. However, he really began to catch the eye of Europe’s elite clubs following his performances for Morocco during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
He anchored his side’s midfield magnificently through his organisation and ball-winning, serving as arguably the most important player for the Northwest African nation in route to their maiden World Cup semi-final berth. Many big clubs have recently shown interest in him but many pulled out because of his transfer fees, but if Bayern get him it will be a huge boost for their midfield in the upcoming season.
4. Kyle Walker (Right Back, Manchester City)
Kyler Walker played a crucial role in Manchester City’s historic treble-winning campaign. He has accomplished much with Manchester City, winning many trophies. Walker is arguably one of the best one-on-one defenders in the world right now. His positioning and, especially, his pace help him pocket many attackers.
There are rumours that just like Gundogan, Walker will like to have a new challenge in his carrier as he wants to leave Manchester City. Bayern will like to have him reinforce the right-back position. If Bayern somehow manages to get him then on both flanks they will have pure pace which will cause a lot of problems for the opponent.
3. Manu Kone (Central Midfielder, Borussia Monchengladbach)
Everyone knows how much Bayern love signing top talents from within the Bundesliga, and there may be no more coveted player willing to make a move within the German top flight than Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manu Koné. The young midfielder has been one of the best players at his position in the Bundesliga since breaking out last season, and he has made more strides this season under Daniel Farke.
He is the heartbeat of the midfield in his team. Koné is just 21, but it is hard to believe he is that young due to how mature he plays the game. An accurate passer, willing ball-winner, and legitimately world-class dribbler at his position.
2. Harry Kane (Striker, Tottenham Hotspur)
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is not a long-term solution to what ails Bayern. They need a superstar up top who can score and help the surrounding attacking players. Spurs would ask for a ton of money in return, but Bayern has shown a willingness to spend on top talent recently, mostly splurging on centre-backs like Matthijs de Ligt and Lucas Hernández. They want a top-tier superstar who can score and support the other offensive players in the area. Harry Kane is the only real choice, bar none.
1. Victor Osimhen (Striker, Napoli)
Victor Osimhen is an athletic, modern and strong striker who has a strong eye for goal, is direct and is pretty good with his hold-up and linkup play. His pace is one of the deadliest parts of his game, especially in transitions as it allows him to get ahead of his opponents.
In a league like the Bundesliga where a lot of transitions take place, a striker like Victor can be a really good option upfront. Already a cult icon in Napoli, he is also considered by many to be very similar to another Napoli legend, Edinson Cavani due to his direct movements in front of goal. Bayern will like to have him alongside Harry Kane.
