West Ham United's 58-year wait for European trophy ends after UEFA Conference League win
Jarrod Bowen scored the winner in the 90th minute
West Ham United ended their campaign on an upward trajectory by defeating Italian team Fiorentina 2-1 to win the UEFA Conference League.
The Hammers had a bad Premier League season and finished in the bottom half of the standings, putting David Moyes' job on the line.
They excelled in Conference League, though, and advanced all the way to the match where they faced an Italian team.
Additionally, the Hammers were well-equipped to give their all in order to avoid repeating their Europa League semifinal performance from the previous year, and Moyes' team finally had a title to their name.
Declan Rice, a star player who is slated to quit the team, will take some memories with him.
With their victory over Fiorentina in the Uefa Europa Conference League final, West Ham United, who hadn't won a significant prize since the 1980 FA Cup final, had changed the course of their history.
La Viola, who placed ninth in the Serie A standings this season, has gone more than 20 years without winning a significant trophy; their most recent win came in the 2001 Coppa Italia.
David Moyes' club had a terrible first half of the domestic season, but they recovered after the new year and ultimately finished 14th in the Premier League.
However, they have been concentrating their efforts in Europe for the past few months, and so far they have reaped the benefits.
In addition, both Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta gave strong performances, which helped Bowen score the game-winning goal and give the Hammers the victory they were seeking. West Ham United also have a chance to play in Europe next season.
