Andre Onana will fly to USA with Manchester United for pre season if medical completed on time

The 27-year-old is close to joining the Red Devils

Manchester United can include Andre Onana on their plane to their pre-season matches in the USA if the former Ajax goalkeeper completes his medical before the team takes off.

According to Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, the Cameroonian custodian is anticipated to sign with the Red Devils soon, and personal terms are anticipated to be finalised later today. In addition, an agreement on a fee between the two teams is almost complete.

Onana must, however, receive formal Manchester United player status by Wednesday, when they depart for the United States, according to Erik ten Hag. This is so that the Dutchman can insist that Onana travels with the team while on tour.

Even if a deal seems imminent, Onana still needs to clear a few obstacles before being introduced as Manchester United's new starting custodian.

Personal terms and the final fee must be approved first; these two requirements appear to be a matter of when, not if, and Onana must also finish his medical.

Andre Onana will fly to the United States with the Manchester United team if his physical test is completed on time.

Onana's transfer is anticipated to be completed by Monday, and when it is, he will fly out right away to join Ten Hag's team, according to Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard.

According to a report by Italian columnist Alfredo Pedulla, the Red Devils will significantly lower their payroll by using Andre Onana in place of David de Gea.

By replacing De Gea's salary with Onana's, United will save about €16 million (£13.5 million) annually and will have a superior custodian in goal.
