Anthony Martial returns to first-team training after recovering from hamstring tear
The Manchester United forward struggled with injuries in the 2022-23 season
Manchester United and Erik ten Hag have received a big boost as Anthony Martial returns to training after getting injured in May.
The 27-year-old forward has struggled recently with injuries and has also missed a lot of action.
Anthony Martial got injured while playing against Fulham in May. He missed the last part of the season and also was out for the early training session during the pre-season.
The Athletic confirm that the Red Devils have been handed a big boost as their striker has joined the first team and started training for the upcoming season.
Given the player's injury record, the club have been cautious with Martial's recovery and has so far been training on his own at Carrington, and at the Pingry School - United's base on the first stop on their American tour.
Erik ten Hag won't take a risk before handing him some game time. The Dutch manager knows the value of this player and cannot afford to lose him in the next season.
The Red Devils are short of attacking options. They are looking for a striker and are currently in the market to negotiate a deal.
The English club already signed Mason Mount and Andre Onana ahead of the 2023-24 season. Mason Greenwood's situation also hangs in the balance. He has been cleared of all charges but the club is waiting for the internal investigation to end.
Anthony Martial could become a crucial figure in United's attack. Last season, he only made 29 appearances and scored nine goals.
Having started his journey in 2015, the former Monaco forward is still looking to make an impact as a Manchester United player.
Over the course of last season, he suffered issues with his achilles, back and hip at separate points before breaking down with the hamstring injury in the final game.
